TheFree Star is one of the two star-typeAir Ride Machines only available inTop Ride inKirby Air Ride. The machine's controls are significantly different from both the largerAir Ride Machines and theSteer Star: instead of strictly using the left and right controls, it matches exactly the direction inputted on the control stick or the directional pad.

The Free Star and Steer Star are removed inKirby Air Riders; instead, the option between Free Control and Steer Control is turned into a setting, and players can choose any Air Ride Machine to use these controls with. Even so, both machines are referenced in Top Ride's Checklist completion video: some riders can be seen riding aMy MachineWarp Star modeled after the Free Star.

Appearance[edit]

This machine appears as a strange, vaguely shaped five-pointed star, similar to theCompact Star base, colored a dark-red hue. Adorning each of its four "wings" is a small, white triangle decal. The machine's base sports an elongated, white stripe, reaching from front, to back; the tip being a small, white triangle.

As so with the Steer Star, no apparent propulsion units are equipped.
