Foley is an enemy which first appeared inKirby & The Amazing Mirror. It is a small, yellow creature with two leaves on its head, which act as a propeller. Foley is a commonenemy that usually hovers aboveKirby and falls down when he is below it, similar to aCoconut. Foley yields theBombCopy Ability wheninhaled and swallowed by Kirby.
Foley can essentially be seen as a living flying bomb, holding in place or moving in a fixed pattern through the air on its propeller. WhenKirby passes underneath, Foley will separate from its propeller and drop after a brief pause. If Foley hits Kirby or the floor, it will detonate, defeating itself and dealingdamage in a small area. However, Foley will not detonate if it is defeated by any attack (including landing on Kirby'sParasol), unlikeCoconuts which detonate regardless. Naturally, if Foley falls into abottomless pit or into a body of water, it will be unable to detonate, and will be defeated or disappear respectively.
The name "Foley" may be a pun on "fall", referencing its typical behavior, or a reference tothe film-making term for creating sound effects for a production, which often includes explosion sounds.
Foley made its first appearance in this game. It is one of the few enemies which can be found in every major area of theMirror World to a greater or lesser extent. Foley usually holds position in the air until Kirby passes underneath, but it can also be seen moving from side-to-side, and performing other movements in rarer cases. Much likeScarfies in the older titles, if Foley is defeated by any attack that isn't inhaling and swallowing it, it will leave behind a damaging explosion upon losing all of its health.
InKirby & The Amazing Mirror, Foley can be found in the following rooms:
Foley appears again inKirby: Squeak Squad, relatively unchanged from its previous appearance. Here, it can also be found in every major area, though it is more common in places such asCushy Cloud andJam Jungle.
When possessed byGhost Kirby, Foley can be made to fly around and drop to detonate. This makes Foley the only possessable enemy whose attack automatically causes it to be defeated.
InKirby: Squeak Squad, Foley can be found in the following levels and stages:
Kirby's Return to Dream Land /Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe[edit]
