Dream Kingdom

TheDream Kingdom is the principal setting of the gamesTeam Kirby Clash Deluxe andSuper Kirby Clash, located ina parallel world.[1] It is a medieval fantasy analogue toDream Land, and is host to a number of residents who are common to other dimensions. The primary difference in its population is the fact that there is not one principalKirby but rathermultiple different ones, of which four come together to form Team Kirby. Despite the Dream Kingdom being a "parallel" dimension,Shinya Kumazaki suggested that theMagolor of the Dream Kingdom was the same as the one from his other appearances;[1] this would later be shown in the ending ofMagolor Epilogue: The Interdimensional Traveler inKirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe, in which the Magolor of that continuity reaches the Dream Kingdom through adimensional rift and plants theGem Apple tree there as well as establishinghis shop. The other characters who appear in the Dream Kingdom are implied to be distinct from their counterparts in other continuities; for example,Bandana Waddle Dee does not recognize Kirby when they first meet.
It is implied that the originalTeam Kirby ClashSub-Game inKirby: Planet Robobot also takes place in the Dream Kingdom, but it is not explicitly named as such in that game.
Despite the location being called a kingdom, its king is never seen in the games. Magolor mentions thatKing D-Mind may be the result of theBlack Mirror reflecting the appearance of the Dream Kingdom's king, indicating that it may beKing Dedede.[2] TheKirby Clashnovel adaptations further imply that King Dedede rules the kingdom, although the novels are a separate continuity from the games.
Places within the Dream Kingdom[edit]

The Dream Kingdom is split up into two villages and eight distinct regions. Each of these areas has different variants, whether they be simply a change in the time of day, or a total change in appearance (such as the Decisive Battlefield and the Dreamscape). These locations are as follows:
Castle Village[edit]
This area is a well-paved town with houses in the background and various objects to interact with. Principal objects of interest include theGem Apple Tree,Magolor's Shoppe, the Quest Board, theAdventurer Bell, the Shrine of Passwords, and theamiibo statue. Here, Team Kirby can take a breather from battles and converse withMagolor orBandana Waddle Dee. It is the only village available inTeam Kirby Clash Deluxe, and can be unlocked inSuper Kirby Clash by completing the "Tougher: King D-Mind" Story Quest. The characters that can appear in this village differ between the games. Exclusively inSuper Kirby Clash, the player is able to change between this village and the Port Village by walking at the edge of the screen.
Magolor first entered the Dream Kingdom through the village. He was the one who planted the Gem Apple tree in the village afterretrieving it from Another Dimension. According to texts fromSuper Kirby Clash, the Castle Village is located near theGrasslands.
Port Village[edit]
This area is a dock near the sea with a view of the Castle Village in the background and various objects to interact with. It is available at the start inSuper Kirby Clash. The player is able to change between this village and the Castle Village once unlocked by walking at the edge of the screen.
Grasslands[edit]

TheGrasslands are a verdant green plains area with ample flora and windmill trees (similar in design to the ones seen inCookie Country andPatched Plains) in the background. It is home to some of the weakest and some of the most powerful enemies in the games.
Seaside[edit]

TheSeaside is a tropical coastal area, and the first region Team Kirby visits inSuper Kirby Clash.
This area does not appear inTeam Kirby Clash Deluxe.
Dunes[edit]

TheDunes are an arid locale featuring elaborate rock formations and sand pouring down them like water.
Ruins[edit]

TheRuins are a deep forest area dotted by abandoned stone structures. In the background, huge cliffs arc in like waves, and a tall stone spire can be seen.Whispy Woods makes this area his home.
Volcano[edit]

TheVolcano is a nearly lifeless region dominated by lava floes and a massive lake ofmagma. A large active volcano can be found here, wherePyribbit resides.
Empyrean[edit]

TheEmpyrean is a high mountaintop area situated well above the clouds, with large towers rising in the distance.Landia makes his home here, andTaranza can also be found in this location.
"Empyrean" as an adjective relates to "the sky" or "the heavens", but as a noun, it refers to "the highest heaven" in ancient astronomy, where God and other higher beings dwelt. This is most likely meant to tie in to Landia's status as a "Guardian Angel". Its names in other languages also relate to this definition, either being direct translations of "empyrean" or referring to "the heavens" as in the sky where higher beings existed.
The Empyrean reappears as aBattle Stage inKirby Fighters 2, using largely the same design as inSuper Kirby Clash.
Decisive Battlefield[edit]

TheDecisive Battlefield is an otherworldly region which appears to be half engulfed inAnother Dimension. Powerful enemies from other dimensions can enter the Dream Kingdom through this region.
Some of the background wreckage seen in the Decisive Battlefield bears a strong resemblance to certain areas of the Castle Village, such as Magolor's Shoppe, the castle spires, the village fencing, and the Quest Board.
The Decisive Battlefield reappears inKirby Fighters 2 as theBattle Stage used when fightingShadow Kirby inStory Mode: The Destined Rivals andSingle-Handed Mode, though it is not a selectable stage in other modes. It is largely unchanged from its appearance inSuper Kirby Clash.
Dreamscape[edit]

TheDreamscape is a surreal land bearing a similar appearance to that ofRainbow Resort fromKirby's Adventure andKirby: Nightmare in Dream Land. Here, Team Kirby must contend with the most potent threats to the kingdom, and is where the showdown againstan ancient hero takes place.
This area does not appear inTeam Kirby Clash Deluxe.

Interviewer: Magolor fromKirby's Return to Dream Land also makes an appearance, doesn't he? Why were his clothes changed to green, instead of the original blue?
Kumazaki: For one thing, Magolor's original color scheme doesn't quite match the style of the Dream Kingdom. And it's not like he just disappeared and disguised his identity so he could appear in front of Kirby again (laughs). This is a parallel, and the part where he says "My name is Magolor!" is also parallel[meaning, he has no reason to hide because this isn't the same Kirby he met before]. Magolor is a very popular character who was crucial to the story ofKirby's Return to Dream Land, and I'm sure many of you have wondered about his relationship to the Magolor of this game; even though it's a parallel, he is the same person[lit. "he is appearing as himself"]." –Nintendo DREAM (July 2017) - ↑Team Kirby Clash Deluxe Japanese official website - Magolor News #9
