Crystal Area
"Crystal Area"[derived from Japanese] is a theme fromKirby Super Star andKirby Super Star Ultra.
Composition[edit]

"Crystal Area" is a heroic and adventurous theme in C major and 4/4. It can be considered a more solemn and slow-paced arrangement of "Green Greens". Besides march-like percussion, "Crystal Area" introduces its own musical element: a rising intervallic brass progression through C major with a B-flat major chord characteristic of C melodic major. This element plays after every phrase of the first section of "Green Greens", which itself has a steady tonic-dominant bassline here. The second section of "Green Greens" follows normally, and then these two parts repeat. After this, an arpeggio leads to a new melody in high registers, which follows the general rhythmical and melodic structure of "Peanut Plains" in C minor. Building up in a tense and unstable major, it reaches its climax with a glorious (and properly minor) quotation of "Kirby's Triumphant Return" and descending scales in the accompaniment. "Crystal Area" is the first variant of "Green Greens" to include "Kirby's Triumphant Return", and the two motifs would later be paired for subsequent arrangements of "Green Greens". "Kirby's Triumphant Return" plays out twice here and ends on a dominant suspense to make room for the return of major. C major's entrance is delayed by an A-flat major chord, rounding out the melodic major aspect. The new element from the intro continues from this point as the track loops.
