And the Clanksprouts that shoot out of the earth can be lured to strike exactly where you want.
— Daroach, inKirby Mass Attack

Clanksprout is anenemy inKirby Mass Attack. It consists of a long chain with a clamp for a head. It remains underground until theKirbys approach, at which point it will try to spring out. If the Kirbys are above it when it springs up, one will be caught in Clanksprout's mouth and will take damage if not freed by the others. Clanksprout's head is its vulnerable part, and can be pummeled to defeat it, conferring 500 points onto the player. Clanksprout can also easily be defeated usingJumbo Candy, causing it to split apart in a unique death animation.

Clanksprout is capable of breaking metalblocks when it springs up. This can be taken advantage of to obtain certain items.

There are two color variants of Clanksprout that behave slightly differently from each other: the teal variant always stays in the same spot while the purple one attempts to follow the Kirbys as they move over the dirt.

In theStage 8 ofSandy Canyon, a gigantic counterpart is encountered, known asGiga Clanksprout. This variant of Clanksprout is more mechanical and gives more trouble to the Kirbys than its standard cousin.
