Capsule J2 is anenemy debuting inKirby Super Star Ultra, as a replacement forCapsule J from the originalKirby Super Star. With the exception of its head and facial area, it physically resembles the original Capsule J. However, its head is shaped like a jet's nose and it has a pair of high-powered rocket boosters. It also has a lower jaw-like extension and glowing red eyes.
Game appearances[edit]
Kirby Super Star Ultra[edit]
InKirby Super Star Ultra, Capsule J2 fulfills the same role as the original Capsule J did inKirby Super Star and also attacks in exactly the same way. When it spots Kirby, it shoots towards him at high speeds and attempts to ram into him. It is notable for being the only enemy in the game to give Kirby theJetCopy Ability when he inhales and swallows it.
Capsule J2 also appears as thehelper of the Jet ability. As such, it is capable of performing the same attacks as Kirby when he has the Jet Copy Ability, which include blasting ahead with a powerful kick or shooting ahead at high speed and then releasing a burst of energy. Like the other helpers in the game, Capsule J2 is playable in theHelper to Hero stage.
Locations[edit]
Capsule J2 can be found in the following places inKirby Super Star Ultra:
Kirby Mass Attack[edit]
InKirby Mass Attack, Capsule J2 appears inKirby Quest. Four of them are encountered in Stage 19 and one is encountered in Stage 22. They have 270 HP.
In theKirby novel series[edit]

In theKirby novel series, Capsule J2 appears inKirby: Big Race in Pupupu Land! as one of the race's many contestants. He is always grouped with the other racers, and does very little to stand out.
When the race is first starting up, Capsule J2 paces in front of the camera to make himself noticeable. Much later in the story, whenPeperon jumps into a river to saveKizario,Kirby immediately calls for Capsule J2 to lend him his strength, and inhales him for theJet ability. Kirby uses this ability to pull Peperon and Kizario out of the river to safety, and he frees Capsule J2 by dropping the ability afterward.
Trivia[edit]
- InKirby Super Star Ultra, the internal filename for Capsule J2 is
capsulej, suggesting that Capsule J2 may have replaced Capsule J late in development. Additionally, it appears that Capsule J2's sprites used Capsule J as a base, since the lower half of it resembles an edited version of the original sprite. InKirby: Mass Attack, its file specifiesj2. - Capsule J2 is the only one of the "Capsule J" line of enemies to have appeared in more than oneKirby game.
