Capiller

Capillers[1], otherwise known asCaterpillars,Worms, orBugs, are an uncommon hazard that appear in someKirby titles. They are small worm-like creatures with yellow and brown stripes on their bodies and two giant beady eyes on one end. If Kirby attempts toinhale them, he will takedamage, so they must be avoided or hit with an attack instead.
Game appearances[edit]
| Capiller's video game appearances | ||
|---|---|---|

| Kirby Super Star Ultra | Hazard | As this is the remake ofKirby Super Star, their role doesn't change. Also appears in theSub-GameSnack Tracks. |

| Team Kirby Clash Deluxe | Hazard | |
| Kirby Star Allies | Hazard | Appears in the sub-gameChop Champs |
| Super Kirby Clash | Hazard | |
| Kirby Fighters 2 | Hazard | Capillers were first named as such here. |
Kirby Super Star[edit]
Capillers first appear inKirby Super Star as projectiles dropped byTwin Woods during some of their attacks in addition toGordos andApples.
Kirby Super Star Ultra[edit]
InKirby Super Star Ultra, Capillers appear in a more prominent role than the original game. Besides being dropped by Twin Woods, they also appear in theSnack TracksSub-Game, where they may appear on the conveyor belts, either alone or insideMaxim Tomatoes. The player will need to flick them off using theNintendo DS stylus to prevent Kirby from eating them.
Additionally, in the "Dyna Blade" segment of theSpecial-Edition Blooper Reel, a Capiller lands on Kirby while he's napping instead of an apple, causing him to panic and then faint.
Lastly, inRevenge of the King, giant purple Capillers calledJumbo Capillers[Japanese title] are dropped byWhispy's Revenge.
Team Kirby Clash,Team Kirby Clash Deluxe &Super Kirby Clash[edit]
In theKirby: Planet Robobot Sub-GameTeam Kirby Clash, its standalone deluxe version and its sequel,Whispy Woods appears as a boss. In all three iterations, he may drop Capillers from his canopy, though since the Kirbys cannot inhale in these games, they are no different from apples in function here.
Kirby Star Allies[edit]

In theChop Champs minigame, Capillers make up the main hazard on the logs. They may shift back and forth while the log comes down, and will not harm Kirby if they are shifted back. Otherwise, Kirby will be temporarily halted if a Capiller hits him.
One Capiller that occasionally winks also appears on the icon for the Chop Champs minigame itself.
Kirby Fighters 2[edit]
InKirby Fighters 2, Capillers are once again dropped byTwin Woods alongside their Gordos and Apples. Here, they are given their current name from Twin Woods' pause screen caption starting in Chapter 3 onwards.
Additionally, theStaff ability has aRare Hat based on Whispy Woods, with the staff itself taking on the appearance of a wooden stick with a Capiller on it.
Trivia[edit]
- According to several official profiles about Kirby, one of his least favorite things is caterpillars, though it is not exactly clear why.[2][3] In the Special-Edition Blooper Reel ofKirby Super Star Ultra, Kirby thrashes wildly and then faints when a Capiller lands on his face, which suggests that he is afraid of them; official merchandise such asFind Kirby!! more concretely shows this, though this may not necessarily be considered canon to the games'continuity.
