Bumper Crop Bump is one of theMini-Games available inKirby 64: The Crystal Shards. One to four players choose from charactersKirby,Waddle Dee,Adeleine, orKing Dedede and attempt to catch more falling crop from the trees than their opponents by any means necessary. Four players will always play, but those not controlled by humans will instead be controlled by the CPU.
How to Play[edit]
The game is set on a flat field with all four characters adjacent. Pressing left and right on the+ Control Pad moves the character, and pressing theA Button (2 on the Wii Remote) will "bump" when adjacent to another character, which has one of two possible effects. If the player is holding still, bumping causes the opposing player to be pushed away, but if the player is moving, it will cause the two players to switch places. Various fruit fall from the tree canopies above throughout the course of the game, which the players must catch to fill their baskets. Occasionally, there will be bombs and any players that catch a bomb will drop all their fruit they have collected. While there is no specific timer, the game ends when all the fruit have fallen, and whoever has the most fruit is the winner.
One interesting mechanic to note is that, as more crop is collected, the character holding it will move slower and slower.
Levels[edit]
There are four different levels in this game, representing each difficulty. Each difficulty must be completed sequentially to unlock the next. Each is listed below, with notes of what can be expected in each one:
- Easy: Four trees with brown trunks and green canopies lie in the background of a green forested area. No hazards are present apart from the other players. After a short time, a gust blows over the trees, causing all the remaining fruit to fall.
- Normal: The trees and background are now decorated with orange autumn colors. A small number of the crop that falls are bombs that will stun anyone they hit and make them lose all of their crop.
- Hard: The trees and background are now red and purple. Otherwise similar to Normal.
- Intense!: The background changes entirely to a cloud canopy adorned with stars. The crop falls from a rainbow above the players' heads, this time consisting of gems rather than fruit. There are many bombs.
In addition to these changes, each increase in difficulty also makes the CPU opponents faster and more aggressive. At Intense, they become extremely pushy and will attempt to shove other players into bombs.
