ABlock is a type ofdevice which takes on a cuboid shape and is used as part of the environment, typically acting as an obstacle, hazard, or resource. Unlike many other devices, blocks act as fully tangible objects whichKirby and other playable characters can stand on, be barricaded by, or even becrushed by, and most types can be broken or otherwise removed. Blocks come in a wide range of types and characteristics, but the most common includeStar Blocks,Bomb Blocks, metal blocks, and barrier blocks. Often, various types of blocks are used in stage puzzles, and have to be interacted with in a certain way to obtain the desired result. Blocks also tend to containitems or obscure hiddendoorways. Unlikeenemies, blocks tend not to reappear if broken unless the stage is reset.

List of blocks in theKirby series[edit]

The following is a list of every distinct type of block throughout theKirby series. The first table covers blocks that span numerous games, while the second will detail more specific blocks that belong to relatively few games, if not appearing in only one game. Many block names are conjectural, so official names will be marked using a reference. Note that blocks which appear only inSub-Games will not be listed here:
