Blatzy is an obscurecannon-likeenemy that appears in theExtra Game ofKirby's Dream Land and inRevenge of the King fromKirby Super Star Ultra. It looks and behaves very similarly toShotzo, being an all-but impervious stationary cannon with the ability to aim its cannon and fire at Kirby, and replaces its more familiar counterpart in the game modes in which it appears.

Characteristics[edit]

Blatzy resembles a stationary cannon with a thick cylindrical barrel atop a triangular base. As such, it is distinct from the more rounded and modest Shotzo, and looks more mechanical. Blatzy also bears a somewhat bluish coloration with a bright yellow bolt connecting the barrel to the base.

Blatzy is notably faster than Shotzo, both in its ability to pivot toward Kirby and in its fire rate. This makes it considerably more difficult to pass a Blatzy than a comparable Shotzo.

Game appearances[edit]

Kirby's Dream Land[edit]

Kirby using theInvincible Candy to defeat a Blatzy

Blatzy appears inKirby's Dream Land's Extra Game, replacing Shotzo wherever it would have been in the normal mode. Like Shotzo, it can only be killed with theMike item or while Kirby is under the effect of theInvincible Candy by standing in one for a few seconds. The latter can be seen inCastle Lololo where the Invincible Candy and a Blatzy exist in the same room. Blatzy can also be seen being held up by aParasol in theBubbly Clouds stage.

Kirby Super Star Ultra[edit]

Blatzy appears in place of Shotzo in theIllusion Islands andCrash Clouds stages ofRevenge of the King, functioning much like it does in the originalKirby's Dream Land. It is also not totally invulnerable here, as it can be defeated using theMike ability as well as by running into it under the effect ofInvincible Candy. It cannot be defeated usingCrash, however.
