"...I will walk the path of mastery."
Under cover of the night, hidden in villages, this elite ninja takes a journey to learn the ninja's way. With his blade of violet lightning, he speeds through the land!

— Guest Star Bio Spark Savage Silence Pause Screen description inKirby Star Allies

Bio Spark (also spelledBiospark) is a commonenemy in theKirby series, first appearing inKirby Super Star. Bio Spark is a ninja-like figure, who wears a cloak with a plume on the helmet. Although glimpses of his gloved hands and covered feet are shown, his only actual body parts seen are his glowing eyes, and he has no arms at all, similar toBlade Knight andSir Kibble. Bio Spark usually wears black or purple, but is also seen wearing green.

Bio Spark can do many things usually attributed to a ninja, including throwingkunai knives whenKirby is far away, slicing rapidly with a blade when Kirby gets too close, hiding in the shadows, grabbing his foe, jumping up, and flinging them to the ground (known asAir Drop).

Bio Spark provides theNinjaCopy Ability when swallowed by Kirby.

Kirby Super Star /Kirby Super Star Ultra[edit]

Bio Spark debuted inKirby Super Star. In this title and its remake,Kirby Super Star Ultra, he can becomeKirby'sHelper and perform all of the same moves asNinja Kirby, including wall jumps. Bio Spark also gains access to theInfinity Jump, which allows him to really show off his Ninja moves without being inhibited by aHovering technique. He can also use the Shock move underwater as well (with a slightly lower range). However, Bio Spark suffers from reducedhealth when compared to Kirby.

Additionally, inKirby Super Star Ultra, he appears in theHelper to HeroSub-Game as one of the playable characters and wears a red cloak. He also appears on a card inKirby Card Swipe.

Kirby: Squeak Squad[edit]

InKirby: Squeak Squad, Bio Spark often hides behind a sheet, making him both hard to see and invincible. WhenKirby gets within a certain distance of Bio Spark, he lifts the sheet and attacks, which makes him vulnerable to being attacked or swallowed for theNinja ability.

When possessed by Kirby'sGhost ability, Bio Spark can use the following moves (facing right):

  • B: Knife throw
  • →+B: Blade multislash
  • ↑: Hide
  • When touching a common enemy in midair:Air Drop

Kirby Mass Attack[edit]

While not appearing in the main game ofKirby Mass Attack, Bio Spark cameos as an obstacle in theSub-Game,Kirby Brawlball. He occupies a small part of the board and will first hold onto a wall, when he is hit, he will disappear whileTac appears on the top right corner. He will then come down to his spot and will swipe at any Kirby ball that gets near. If Tac is still present on-screen, activating a flipper will cause him to automatically swipe and throw a dagger to left that can affect a Kirby ball's movement. If Tac is used up, Bio Spark would hold the wall once again, requiring him to be hit again so that the former could reappear. He is worth 100 points when he is hit while his daggers are worth 800 points.

Kirby: Triple Deluxe[edit]

InKirby: Triple Deluxe, Bio Spark appears on a collectablekeychain, using his sprite fromKirby Super Star.

Kirby Star Allies[edit]

Bio Spark makes his first 3D appearance inKirby Star Allies, where he provides theNinja ability as usual, as well as being recruitable as aFriend. Once recruited, Bio Spark can perform all of the same moves as Ninja Kirby, and can also have his blade augmented byelemental powers.

Bio Spark as a Friend has lowerhealth thanKirby and his health (tied withNESP) is below average - even lower than many other Friends, and just slightly higher thanAdeleine & Ribbon's.

Trivia[edit]

  • Bio Spark's blade is explicitly named in the Japanese version ofKirby Star Allies, being called紫電しでん in hisGuest Star ???? Star Allies Go! pause screen description, which can be translated to "swordflash". In the English version, however, the sword isn't named, and rather is said to be "of violet lightning", utilizing another translation of the kanji.
    • Bio Spark's Japanese name is derived from this same kanji.
