Big Forest (theme)

"Big Forest"[2][3] is the primary theme which plays in the corresponding levelBig Forest inKirby's Dream Land 2. It was composed byTadashi Ikegami[1].
Composition[edit]
"Big Forest" is an upbeat theme that starts in the key of C major, and has a very energetic tempo of roughly 180 beats per minute. It begins with a short introductory statement which lasts about 4 seconds before proceeding into the main portion of the theme. The first section features a percussive melody, with a frantic, playful character, that is backed up by a strong emphasis of each beat. A shift to C minor then marks the beginning of the second section, which features a different, more drawn-out melody with minimal backing. After some time, the backing becomes more dense as the theme transitions back to C major, and the track then loops.
Game appearances[edit]
Kirby's Dream Land 2[edit]
This theme appears in the Big Forest level ofKirby's Dream Land 2. It plays during the introductory cutscene for the level, leading into the first time Kirby visits thelevel hub, and also plays as the default music within the first three stages themselves. Due toCoo's presence within the level, much of it is played under "Coo's Theme" instead.
Kirby and the Rainbow Curse[edit]
An arrangement of this song can be unlocked by collecting one of theTreasure Chests found in theDeep-Divin' Kirby Submarine stage, to then be played in theMusic Room. While very similar to the original, not counting the different instrumentation, it has some differences, such as having a longer intro, and a slightly slower tempo.

The original version of "Big Forest", named"Kirby's Dream Land 2: Memorial Song 1" in-game, can be unlocked for use inRaces andFree Rolling inKirby's Dream Buffet upon reachingGourmet Rank 34.

The Big Forest theme is featured in Track 9: "Beyond the Forest and the Desert" of theKirby Memorial Arrangements, the second CD of theKirby 25th Anniversary Orchestra Concert 2-CD set.
