"Big Forest: Stage Select"[conjectural title] is a theme fromKirby's Dream Land 2 that plays in thelevel hub ofBig Forest. It can be found as track 10 in theSound Test.
Composition[edit]
"Big Forest: Stage Select" is a short and cheerful theme in the form of a period, set in 2/4 (or a faster 4/4) with primarily detached notes. It is simple in terms of its layers, which alternate between a strong melody with a bassline that follows it closely and a quieter descending countermelody. The first phrase plays in C major, first setting the tonic, then quickly shifting to dominant and back to tonic in an imperfect authentic cadence, which facilitates further development. The second phrase repeats the first in E-flat major; the track loops after this.
