TheBeast Pack is an organization of animals and other characters from bothPopstar and thenew world which serves as the main antagonistic force inKirby and the Forgotten Land andKirby and the Forgotten Land – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World. It was formed byLeon afterFecto Forgo possessed him as a way to findits lost half and merge with it tobecome whole. As explained by Leongar inLab Discovera, the main objective of the Beast Pack was to gather energy and resources for the "Great One" so that it could allow them to transcend their world; doing so in a similar manner to the new world civilization which left all of its infrastructure behind after attaining "planetary warp" technology and leaving to a "land of dreams". Before long, however, it is revealed that this was a trick perpetrated by Fecto Forgo towards its own ends, and it attempts to absorb the Beast Pack into itself instead. After Fecto Forgo is defeated and Leon is recovered, the Beast Pack become friendly towardKirby and theWaddle Dees who they had previously antagonized.

Characteristics[edit]

The Beast Pack - as its name suggests - is largely composed of various creatures which resemble wild animals. By and large, its members are incapable of speech and communicate through growls and body language, with Leongar being the only exception (though it is implied through the Leon and Carolfigure description that his ability to speak was granted to him through his direct influence by Fecto Forgo). The creatures that make up the Beast Pack consist entirely of tetrapodal vertebrates, with most of them being mammalian in character, though a few belong to the reptilian, amphibian, and avian clades.

Leon is considered to be the leader of the pack, withCarol as his second in command, andGorimondo andSillydillo being the other high-ranking members; all four of which form the "Beast Council".

History[edit]

After a "warp-experiment incident" occurred, which had split specimenID-F86 into two halves, theinhabitants of thenew world later left using the spatial technology acquired from ID-F86. Over time, the native wildlife gained sapience comparable to the previous inhabitants, includingLeon andCarol.

One day, Leon stumbles upon one part of ID-F86,Fecto Forgo, in the remains ofLab Discovera, and becomes possessed by its strong telepathic waves to serve as its medium. Leon changes his name to "Leongar" and forms the Beast Pack, and Carol, who is confused but faithful to her fellow beast, follows suit and takes on the name "Clawroline". As the two most influential members of the Beast Pack, the other animal inhabitants of the new world quickly follow their orders: to find Fecto Forgo's other half,Elfilin, so they can become one again.

Fecto Forgo, as part of its plan to obtain even more labor beyond the Beast Pack, opens a vortex abovePopstar which transports the inhabitants ofDream Land and its surrounding areas to the new world. Once there, the Beast Pack begins to subdue the weaker residents of Dream Land (namely, theWaddle Dees), and recruit more powerful residents into the pack (either willingly — as withBonkers,Gigant Edge, andMr. Frosty — or unwillingly, as withKing Dedede). Their attempt to recruitMeta Knight into the pack fails due to his stronger force of will.

The Beast Pack even manages to successfully capture Elfilin, butKirby, who was also caught in the vortex, arrives in time to rescue him. When Elfilin explains the plight of the Waddle Dees, Kirby agrees to help, putting a wrench into the Beast Pack's plan. After Kirby confronts and defeats Leongar within Lab Discovera, Fecto Forgo reveals its true nature and subsumes many members of the Beast Pack to sustain itself. Even after it fuses with Elfilin to becomeFecto Elfilis, Kirby still manages to defeat this monstrosity, resulting in the Beast Pack being formally disbanded.

However, Fecto Forgo keeps Leon captured withinits dreams by scattering his soul into pieces and guarding them with illusory versions of the Beast Pack's former members. Kirby and Elfilin enter this realm and collect the pieces of Leon's soul, freeing him after a difficult struggle witha possessed Leon anda mysterious knight who feasted upon Fecto Forgo's soul. With help from the other former members of the Beast Pack, including Carol, Leon is returned to his old self, and all is well.

Chaos Elfilis, the final boss of The Ultimate Cup Z and The Ultimate Cup Z EX in theColosseum, was created from the various beast souls (and ethereal butterfly) that Fecto Forgo had absorbed. During its defeat animation, many members of the beast pack are shown within Chaos Elfilis's glowing body, though ultimately none of them seem to be freed from their consumption.

During the events ofStar-Crossed World in the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, many enemies and all mid-bosses of the Beast Pack are affected by the meteor showers in the new world, transforming into more powerful Crystal variants.

Beast Council[edit]

Beast Council members
CharacterRole
A giant gorilla whose main job is to gather food and capture Waddle Dees. Unfortunately, he tends to eat the food he gathers, much to the frustration of his boss. He apparently tried to destroy Waddle Dee Town thirty different times while Kirby was out adventuring, but was repelled every single time byMeta Knight.
A humanoid leopardess whose skill and grace, particularly in the art of acrobatics and throwing knives, inspires the Pack. She is the closest to Leon, and the two are presumably king and queen. After the events of the main story, she resides in Waddle Dee Town, and asks Kirby and Elfilin to enter Forgo Dreams to rescue Leon. She is also known asCarol.
A large bipedal armadillo-like creature whose main job is to produce the wanted posters depicting Kirby and Elfilin. It also tries to seek them out directly, but it's easily distracted by hoarding junk. In its spare time, its hobbies are constructing makeshift puppets and spin-dancing.
A giant bipedal lion-man who serves as the leader of the Beast Pack. Several years prior to the main story, he encountered specimen ID-F86 and was corrupted by them, leading his pack to do their bidding and learning to speak through their influence. After Kirby defeats him in Lab Discovera, his body and soul are subsumed into Fecto Forgo, and Kirby needs to venture through Forgo Dreams and collectpieces of his soul to restore him to normal. He is also known asLeon.

Mid-bosses[edit]

ExceptingFleurina, the mid-bosses of the Beast Pack are creatures fromPopstar who came to the new world and were quickly recruited in, gaining a makeover in the process.Wild Edge is the only member who does not appear to intrinsically fit in with the other more animalistic members, though their "wild" makeover does help to cover that difference.

Gigant Edge after joining the Beast Pack. They resemble their normal counterpart, but with war paint on their armor and a fur collar around their neck. They also wield a stone sword and a spiky riot shield.
Mr. Frosty after joining the Beast Pack. He resembles his normal counterpart, but is much larger, and with a more disheveled and unkempt appearance. He attacks by creating and tossing different sizes of snowballs, as well as snowmen. He also will attempt to crushKirby and dash after him, sometimes managing to eat him.
