"Battle with Friends: Adeleine"[conjectural title] is a track that plays during Kirby's battle againstAdeleine inKirby 64: The Crystal Shards.

Composition[edit]

Adeleine paints a familiar foe to do battle with Kirby.

"Battle with Friends: Adeleine" is a frantic, 4/4 track that jumps between C major and A minor at 119 BPM. The main melody is first played by a very springy-sounding synth that can be frequently heard throughout this game's music and the music of its predecessor,Kirby's Dream Land 3. After two measures, the melody jumps back and forth between the synth and a flute, the latter of which seems to mimic the notes played by the former. This continues for two more measures, with the melody ultimately returning to the synth, just in time for a bell in the last measure to repeat an arpeggio multiple times before the song loops. In the song's second loop, the lead synth is replaced by a trumpet that goes through the exact same notes that the first loop went through. The only difference comes at the end, when the repeating arpeggio is played by a deeper-sounding woodwind. From there, the song repeats from the first loop.

The background instrumentation is rather sparce, only making use of a similarly-springy-sounding bass synth, and light, but constant percussion (a snare and what sound like conga drums).
