This article is aboutBall, anAbility fromKirby's Adventure andits remake, and should not be confused withKirby Ball.

Ball is aCopy Ability appearing rarely in theKirby series. By using it,Kirby can transform into a ball-like form, enabling him to bounce and roll, harming enemies he bounds into.

Moveset[edit]

Ball can be a tricky ability to use, as the timing for damaging enemies with it can be rather strict at times. Pressing theB button transforms Kirby into ball form. From here, he can roll around or bounce when the player holds theA button. Successive bounces while the button is held can gain considerable height, and Kirby is able to harm enemies when he is sparkling while bouncing. PressingB again reverts Kirby to normal.

Game appearances[edit]

Kirby's Adventure /Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land[edit]

Kirby making use of the Ball ability inKirby's Adventure.

The ability made its first appearance inKirby's Adventure and returns in its remake,Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land. It can be acquired by either inhalingBubbles or the various baseballs painted byPaint Roller during theboss battle against him. It can also be found in theGrape GardenMuseum. Although Kirby's appearance does not change while in possession of the ability inKirby's Adventure, he sports a rubber band-like visor when not in ball form inKirby: Nightmare in Dream Land. Ball is unorthrodox but it is one of most damaging abilities in the game, dealing a whopping 16 damage.[1]

Super Smash Bros. Melee[edit]

InSuper Smash Bros. Melee, Ball Kirby appears as atrophy, and is one of the three trophies to depict a copy ability from the games. Its description treats it as the same thing as theKirby Ball form.

Similar appearances[edit]

Main article:Kirby Ball

In several games, such asKirby's Pinball Land,Kirby's Block Ball, andKirby: Canvas Curse, Kirby is depicted without limbs in ball form. However, these appearances should not be confused with the Ball ability proper, as Kirby Ball is taken to be default Kirby in these games.

When Kirby swallows a ball enemy, he turns into a ball and can bounce off of floors and walls. It's tough to control, but well worth it for the strong attack power it gives Kirby. After his debut in Kirby's Adventure, Ball Kirby has popped up in several more Kirby games, such as Kirby's Pinball Land and Kirby's Block Ball.Kirby's Adventure - 5/93
