amiibo
| NintendoWiki has more information about this subjecthere. |

amiibo are a series of collectible figurines based on characters fromNintendo franchises, which also tout functionality with various video games. Scanning in various figures will unlock bonuses in these games, which range from purely cosmetic changes to new content in the form of in-game items, characters and locations.
The first amiibo figurines that went out for sale were the ones related toSuper Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U. Among them were figurines ofKirby,King Dedede, andMeta Knight, as all three were fighters in that game. Later, concurrent with the release ofKirby: Planet Robobot, came a set of officialKirby series amiibo, includingKirby,Meta Knight,King Dedede, andWaddle Dee. Much later, in 2025, with the release ofKirby Air Riders, newKirby amiibo released, with Kirby andBandana Waddle Dee coming out on November 20, 2025 (the day of the game's release), with more set to be released in 2026. TheKirby Air Riders amiibo come withAir Ride Machines that can be swapped between them.
Several non-Kirby games unlock contentbased on the series when aKirby-related amiibo is scanned. Additionally, an application released for theWii U calledamiibo tap: Nintendo's Greatest Bits allows players to unlock demos ofNES andSNES games, includingKirby's Adventure,Kirby's Dream Course,Kirby Super Star andKirby's Dream Land 3.
InKirby games in which amiibo can be scanned in quick succession in stages, the same amiibo cannot be used again until the stage is completed or exited.

This can be done by visiting the Kirby statue to the left ofMagolor's Shoppe in the village. Five different amiibo can only be scanned every 24 hours.
Depending on what kind of amiibo gets scanned, the amount of fragments received varies:Kirby series amiibo give 20,Kirby characters from theSuper Smash Bros. amiibo series give 10, and all other amiibo give 5.
Kirby's Blowout Blast[edit]
InKirby's Blowout Blast, there is a special collection room where Kirby can obtain large statues of himself and his friends/rivals when the player scans aKirby series amiibo (including theirSuper Smash Bros. series amiibo counterparts). This will also add more musical options to the plaza, appropriate to the character scanned in. These additions are as follows based on the character scanned:
- Kirby - Adds a statue of Kirby and allows an arrangement of "The Adventure Begins" fromKirby's Return to Dream Land to play.
- King Dedede - Adds a statue of King Dedede and allows an arrangement of "King Dedede's Theme" to play, similar to the version from theDedede's Drum Dash Deluxe title screen.

Kirby Air Riders[edit]
Kirby Air Riders features similar amiibo functionality toSuper Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U andSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate. Scanning any rider andAir Ride Machine amiibo pair from theKirby Air Riders series amiibo registers the rider's amiibo as a Figure Player. While a Figure Player is active, the player can enter the Training menu, where they can race against the Figure Player inAir Ride,Top Ride, orCity Trial modes. Performing Training increases the Figure Player's Level, changes their behavior according to the player's performance, and raises Machine Proficiency with the Air Ride Machine currently equipped as a base. Machine Proficiency is trained separately for each Figure Player and machine combination, but Figure Players retain Proficiency with machines they have used. Players can also customize their Figure Player's nickname and appearance and toggle learning capabilities for the Figure Player in the amiibo menu. Figure Players can also be used in an onlinePaddock via the amiibo terminal. Scanning aKirby Air Riders series amiibo also changes the figurine that is used as the icon for the game's main menu.
All other amiibo can be scanned for rewards. Each amiibo can only be scanned once per day, with a limit of 5 scans per day. Scanning an amiibo from theKirby series or aKirby amiibo from theSuper Smash Bros. series for the first time rewards the player with 2500Miles, a random alternate color for that character that is not already unlocked (if all colors are unlocked, it simply grants the base rider again), and aLicense Card Theme featuring that character'sKirby Air Riders artwork. Later scans of the sameKirby amiibo will reward 500 Miles, or 300 Miles and a random decal or sticker. Any other amiibo (and the above amiibo after first use) will award 400 Miles and a randomMy Machine or License Card cosmetic.
