"I'm a Hungry Pink Puffball!" is a theme introduced inKirby's Dream Buffet, serving as its main motif. It was composed byYuuta Ogasawara.^[1]

Composition[edit]

"I'm a Hungry Pink Puffball!" is a joyful theme set in E-flat major and 4/4, played primarily by synthesized instruments. The intro lingers on the dominant with frequent repetitions and alternation between B flat and C. The melody, played by an electric guitar comes in on an upbeat, consisting of a broken tonic triad in second inversion, the instability of which gives the theme a strong impulse and dominant tendencies. The first section plays twice and then shifts to the second, featuring lead jazz organ and supporting saxophone arpeggios. This part harmonically develops the first section's melody through usage of the subdominant function while adding in elements from the intro. After ending on a stable tonic, the second section gives way to a transition, which is based on the intro's repetitions.

The third section is a reiteration of the first with a wide range of brass instruments instead of electric guitar solo; the electric guitar returns for the fourth section, a reprise of the second. The transition also repeats, now extended with extra alternations and a rapid augmented scale, giving it even more energy and making way for a loop.

InKirby's Dream Buffet, "I'm a Hungry Pink Puffball!" appears as race music. It serves as the game's main motif; other versions include:

• "To the Dream Buffet, with the Dream Fork"^[2] - The opening theme. "I'm a Hungry Pink Puffball!" appears as the second part of the theme.
• "I'm a Hungry Pink Puffball! (Ver. 2)" - An E major arrangement, also race music, unlocked by reachingGourmet Rank 60. Features references to "Green Greens" and "Gourmet Race". Arranged byShogo Sakai.
• "Kirby's Dream Buffet" - The Home Table menu theme, a shorter jazzy version set in F major with swing rhythm. Arranged byHirokazu Ando.
• "Afternoon Tea" - The menu theme that plays upon reaching the highest Gourmet Rank, an extended arrangement. Arranged by Hirokazu Ando.
• "Kirby's Ultra-Gourmet Memories" - TheCharacter Treat Collection menu theme that plays upon collecting all 256 treats. Transitions from brass to chiptune, forms a medley alongside "Gourmet Race" and "Hidden Corkboard". Arranged byYuki Shimooka.
• "Chefs of the Dream Buffet"^[2] - Thestaff credits theme. "I'm a Hungry Pink Puffball!" appears in the drum machine-led second half as part of a medley alongside "On a Fun Drive with You" and "Dream Buffet Race". This theme was handled byShogo Sakai.^[3]

• "Seven Colors in the Sky" - An arrangement of "Rainbow Across the Skies" that includes hints of "I'm a Hungry Pink Puffball!" throughout.
• "Full-Feast Results"^[2] - The results theme. The final part of "I'm a Hungry Pink Puffball!" is arranged. It also includes the part of "Cute, Colorful Candies" too. This arrangement is done byJun Ishikawa.^[3]
• "Got a Character Treat!"^[2] - The jingle when getting aCharacter Treat. This arrangement is done byMegumi Ohara.^[3]
• "Devoured the Full Feast!"^[2] - The jingle played when achieving the maxGourmet Rank. This arrangement is also done by Megumi Ohara.^[3]

Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe[edit]

InKirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe, "Kirby's Dream Buffet" plays as a part of the firstHAL Room's medley theme, "Secret Area: HAL Room (Kirby's Dream Buffet 1)", alongside "Green Greens Buffet" and "Love, Love, Alivel".

Kirby and the Forgotten Land – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World[edit]

Kirby and the Forgotten Land – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World includes a new arrangement of "I'm a Hungry Pink Puffball!". This version is titled"Kirby's Tilt-and-Roll Festival", and was arranged byJun Ishikawa. It has a chance of playing when Extra Hard difficulty is selected on the third level ofTilt-and-Roll Kirby. It can be found as track 119 atWaddle Live! Corner Stage.

Kirby Air Riders[edit]

InKirby Air Riders, the original version of "I'm a Hungry Pink Puffball!" can be unlocked as the alternate track forFlow. To unlock it, the player has to, on the course in question, hit other riders withQuick Spin 5 times, and then finish a lap withShadow Star.

AKirby JP Twitter post forKirby's Dream Buffet from Oct 8, 2022 features a sample of "I'm a Hungry Pink Puffball!".

"I'm a Hungry Pink Puffball!" is paired with "On a Fun Drive with You" and theboss theme fromKirby's Block Ball to serve as the default music for the game's Maximus Cup inTetris 99. "Kirby's Ultra-Gourmet Memories" is also used on the results screen if the player happens to finish in 1st place.

Starting fromKirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe, "I'm a Hungry Pink Puffball!" represents its game of origin in thePast Adventures menu.
