InMandaeism,Yufin-Yufafin orYupin-Yupapin (Classical Mandaic:ࡉࡅࡐࡉࡍ ࡅࡉࡅࡐࡀࡐࡉࡍ,romanized: iupin u-iupapin) is anuthra (angel or guardian) in theWorld of Light.[1] In theGinza Rabba, Yufin-Yufafin is mentioned in Books 3 and 5.4 of theRight Ginza and Book 1 of theLeft Ginza, whereas "Yufin-Uthra" is mentioned in Book 4 of theRight Ginza.[2] He is also mentioned in manyQulasta prayers, including prayers5,9,22,28,46,77,105, and 171, in which he is often mentioned along with uthras such asSam Mana Smira andNbaṭ.[3]
Nathaniel Deutsch (2000) links Yufin-Yufafin withYophiel, one of the names of the angelMetatron inJewish mysticism. Deutsch also observes many parallels between Metatron andAbatur.[4]
