Yuan Yue (Chinese:袁悦;pinyin:Yuán Yuè;Mandarin pronunciation:[ɥɛ̌n ɥê] ; born 25 September 1998) is a Chinese professionaltennis player. She has career-highWTA rankings of world No. 36 in singles achieved in May 2024 and No. 64 in doubles, achieved in March 2025. She is currently the No. 3 Chinese player.

2018: WTA Tour debut

Yuan made herWTA Tour main-draw debut at theJiangxi International Open in the doubles tournament, partnering withLiu Yanni.[2]

2022: Major and top 75 debuts

She made her Grand Slam main-draw debut at the2022 Wimbledon Championships as a lucky loser.

At the next major, at theUS Open, she reached the third round for the first time after qualifying by defeatingJaimee Fourlis andIrina-Camelia Begu without losing a set.[3]

2023: First WTA 1000 win and WTA Tour final

She qualified for the2023 Australian Open to make her debut at this major, and she also qualified for theWimbledon Championships.[4]

Yuan received a wildcard for her home tournament, theChina Open, and defeatedElise Mertens for her first WTA 1000 win.[5]

She reached her first WTA Tour final at theKorea Open where she lost to top seedJessica Pegula.[6]

2024: First title & top-10 win, WTA 1000 quarterfinal, top 50

At theHobart International, she reached the semifinals after qualifying, saving four set points againstYulia Putintseva.[7][8]

She reached the final at the2024 ATX Open defeatingArina Rodionova,Taylor Townsend,Wang Yafan andAnna Karolína Schmiedlová.[9] She won the title defeating sixth seed and compatriotWang Xiyu.[10] As a result, she moved into the top 50 in the rankings.[11]

At theIndian Wells Open, she recorded her first top-10 win over eighth seedZheng Qinwen to reach the third round of a WTA 1000 event for the first time, having never previously get past the second round.[12][13] Next, she reached the quarterfinals for the first time with a win overCaroline Dolehide[14] and 11th seedDaria Kasatkina.[15] She lost in the last eight to third seedCoco Gauff.[16] At the other WTA 1000, theMiami Open, she recorded her first win at this tournament overAnna Blinkova[17] before losing toMaria Sakkari[18]

In October, Yuan teamed up withDemi Schuurs to win the doubles at the WTA 500Ningbo Open, defeating top seedsNicole Melichar-Martinez andEllen Perez in the final. As a result she reached the top 75 in the doubles rankings on 21 October 2024.[19]

2025: ATX Open doubles title
