xVRML (eXtensibleVirtual Reality Modeling Language, usually pronouncedex-vermal) is a standardfile format for representing3-dimensional (3D) interactivecomputer graphics, designed particularly with theWorld Wide Web in mind.
xVRML is atext-file format from the xVRML Project[1] atRIT. While xVRML evolved fromVRML; it now has an easy-to-learn,XML-based syntax, for which it utilizes anXML Schema to insure both a clear structure and understandable constraints.
The specifications, documentation, and example files, as well as information about a viewer application (Carina), may all be found at the xVRML Project website.[1] All but the examples may be downloaded from the Project SourceForge site.[2] An extensive and growing object library is available for public use through the xVRML Project site.[1]
