Woutersia was aTriassic genus of 'symmetrodont'[2] and the only representative of the familyWoutersiidae.[3] It was originally classified as akuehneotheriid,[2] but it has been suggested that it may be related toDocodonta.[2] Remains ofW. mirabilis andW. butleri have been found in theGres à Avicula contorta Formation atSaint-Nicolas-de-Port,France, whileW. mirabilis has been found inVarangéville, France; remains have been dated to theLate Triassic,[2] 205.6 to 201.6 Ma.[3]
