William Sunsing Hidalgo (born 12 May 1977) is aCosta Rican bodybuilder and formerfootball player.
The dreadlocked Sunsing made his professional debut for played forHerediano on 5 April 1995 againstSan Carlos and scored his first goal on 5 March 1997 forRamonense against Saprissa.[1] A much-travelled winger, he played abroad forNew England Revolution in theUnited States,[2]FK Teplice[3] in theCzech Republic andAkratitos in Greece where he played alongside compatriotsFroylán Ledezma andBerny Peña.[4] He also played forDeportivo Saprissa,[5]Santa Bárbara andPérez Zeledón in Costa Rica. He was nicknamedThe Menace during his trip throughMajor League Soccer.
In summer 2007Brujas sold Sunsing toLiberia Mía where he signed for three years.[6]
He joinedLimón in December 2010,[7] but left them in summer 2011 after falling out with manager Ronald Mora.[8] He later leftOrión in September 2011 due to financial problems at the club[9] which allowed him to move abroad to play in Guatemala forCobán Imperial.[10] His final club was Guatemala second division outfitSayaxché afterXelajú were unable to lure him away from Cobán.[11]
Sunsing retired on 7 December 2012,[12] after amassing 352 Costa Rica Primera División matches in which he scored 76 goals.[13]
Sunsing made his debut forCosta Rica in a January 2000friendly match againstTrinidad & Tobago[1] and earned a total of 35 caps, scoring 4 goals.[14] He represented his country in 18FIFA World Cup qualification matches[15] and was a non-playing squad member at the2002 FIFA World Cup and the2001 Copa América.[16] He scored the only goal in the only ever match theTicos won over Jamaica, in 2001.[17]
He also played at the2000[18] and2002 CONCACAF Gold Cups.[19]
His final international was a September 2009FIFA World Cup qualification match againstEl Salvador.
In 2019, Sunsing made his debut as a bodybuilder.[20]
Sunsing is married to Ivannia Quesada and has a daughter, Keylin.[21]
