William Welles Hoyt (born May 7, 1875, inGlastonbury, Connecticut; died December 1, 1954, inCambridge, New York) was an Americantrack and field athlete. He competed at the1896 Summer Olympics inAthens. He was born inGlastonbury, Connecticut.[1]
Hoyt competed in thepole vault, winning the event with a height of 3.30 metres. He also ran the110 metres hurdles. He placed second in his heat, afterThomas Curtis, but did not run in the final.
Hoyt received his secondary education atThe Roxbury Latin School. He graduated fromHarvard University with a BA and MD.[2]
