William H. Todd (1864-1932)[1][2] was a shipbuilder and an avid philanthropist.[3]

He was born on November 27, 1864, the son of a boilermaker inWilmington, Delaware.[3] He apprenticed to be ashipwright at thePusey and Jones Shipyard in Wilmington as a young man and moved toBrooklyn, New York in 1893 to work in theBrooklyn Navy Yard.[3] He left the Navy Yard in 1896, to becomeforeman of theRobins Dry Dock & Repair Company ofErie Basin.[3] He eventually became president of Robins, and in 1916 merged that company with others to form theTodd Shipyard Company.[3]

He died May 15, 1932.[1]
