TheWilburton-Wallington Phase is the name given byarchaeologists to a metalworking stage of theBronze Age inBritain spanning the period between c. 1140 BCE and c. 1020 BCE.
TheWilburton complex was present in the south of Britain and theWallington (Northumberland) complex in the north. Both are characterised by the introduction ofcopper-lead-tinalloys inbronze making and by the manufacture of leaf-shaped slashing swords,socketed spearheads secured to a shaft with a peg, horse-bits andsocketed axes.
It is paralleled by thePoldar industries inScotland and theRoscommon industries inIreland as well as being linked with theUrnfield culture A2-B1 in South Germany.
It is preceded in Britain by thePenard Period, and followed by theEwart Park Phase/ Blackmoor Period.
