Water Child (French:L'Enfant d'eau) is a Canadian drama film, directed byRobert Ménard and released in 1995.[1] The film starsDavid La Haye as Émile, a mentally handicapped young adult who survives a plane crash, finding himself on an otherwise deserted island with Cendrine (Marie-France Monette), a teenage girl.[1]

The film's cast also includesGilbert Sicotte,Danielle Proulx andMonique Spaziani.

The film received twoGenie Award nominations at the16th Genie Awards:Best Actor (La Haye) andBest Original Score (Richard Grégoire).[2] La Haye won the award for Best Actor.[3]
