Wallace Wingert is an American voice actor and former DJ. His roles include Almighty Tallest Red inInvader Zim,Renji Abarai inBleach, Psycho Blue inPower Rangers In Space,Kotetsu T. Kaburagi / Wild Tiger inTiger & Bunny, theRiddler in theBatman: Arkham series,Jon Arbuckle inThe Garfield Show,Cubot inSonic the Hedgehog, and the mascot ofH. H. Gregg.[1]

Early life

Wingert was born inDes Moines, Iowa[2] but soon moved toSioux Falls, South Dakota.[2]

Career

He began his career in radio as a disc jockey in 1977, at the age of 16 years old.[2] He eventually moved toLos Angeles, California in 1987, continuing his radio career.[2]

In 1989, Wingert parodied the Escape Club song "Wild, Wild West" on theDr. Demento radio show as "Adam West", in response to the casting ofMichael Keaton as thetitular character forBatman.[2] He continued to work with the radio business withWestwood One, but later left the station and would take a full-time position as an air personality withKTWV.[2] After five years, he eventually left the radio station and would pursue a career in acting and voice acting.[2] FollowingKevin Conroy's passing in November 2022, Wingert posted a heartfelt story on how he cited his meeting with Conroy as a major influence on his career.[3]

Wingert was the announcer forThe Jay Leno Show, replacingJohn Melendez; when NBC moved Leno backfrom primetime to late night, he remained as announcer for the second Leno iteration ofThe Tonight Show. He was also the voice ofJon Arbuckle fromThe Garfield Show. He is also known for his roles as Almighty Tallest Red fromInvader Zim (oppositeKevin McDonald),Ant-Man / Giant-Man fromThe Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, theRiddler from theBatman: Arkham series,Renji Abarai fromBleach andKotetsu T. Kaburagi / Wild Tiger fromTiger & Bunny.

He narratedImpact: Stories of Survival on theDiscovery Health Channel,How to Build Everything on theScience Channel,Amazing Medical Stories andThat's Gotta Hurt onTLC, some episodes ofE! True Hollywood Story onE! andOutdoor Outtakes on theOutdoor Life Network.

Personal life

Wingert currently resides inPalm Springs, California.[2] In his spare time, he enjoys collecting animation art, autographs, drawings, movie and television costumes, collectible toys and rock and roll merchandise.[2]

He is not related to fellow voice actorMick Wingert.[4]
