A few days ago, new page patrollers got the backlog to zero. Due to the unprecedented success of the backlog drive, it will be ending early—at the end of 24 October, or in approximately two hours.
Barnstars will be awarded as soon as the coords can tally the results. Streak awards will be allocated based on the first three weeks of the drive, with the last three days being counted as part of week three.

Hello Devonian Wombat,
The October drive reduced the backlog from 9,700 to an amazing 0! Congratulations toWaddlesJP13 who led with 2084 points. Seethis page for further details. The queue is steadily rising again and is approaching 2,000. It would be great if <2,000 were the “new normal”. Please continue to help out even if it's only for a few or even one patrol a day.
Onel5969 won the 2022 cup for 28,302 article reviews last year - that's an average of nearly 80/day. There was one Gold Award (5000+ reviews), 11 Silver (2000+), 28 Iron (360+) and 39 more for the 100+ barnstar.Rosguill led again for the 4th year by clearing 49,294 redirects. For the full details see theAwards page and theHall of Fame. Congratulations everyone!
Minimum deletion time: The previousWP:NPP guideline was to wait 15 minutes before tagging for deletion (including draftification andWP:BLAR). Due to complaints, a consensus decided to raise the time to 1 hour. To illustrate this, very new pages in thefeed are now highlighted in red. (As always, this is not applicable to attack pages, copyvios, vandalism, etc.)
New draftify script: In response to feedback from AFC, the The Move to Draft script now provides a choice of set messages that also link the creator to a new, friendlyexplanation page. The script also warns reviewers if the creator is probably still developing the article. The former script is no longer maintained. Please edit your edit yourcommon.js or vector.js file fromUser:Evad37/MoveToDraft.js
toUser:MPGuy2824/MoveToDraft.js
Redirects: Some of our redirect reviewers have reduced their activity and the backlog is up to 9,000+ (two months deep). If you are interested in this distinctly different task and need any help, seethis guide, this checklist, and spend some time atWP:RFD.
Discussions with the WMF ThePageTriage open letter signed by 444 users is bearing fruit. The Growth Team has assigned some software engineers to work on PageTriage, the software that powers the NewPagesFeed and the Page Curation toolbar. WMF has submitteddozens of patches in the last few weeks to modernize PageTriage's code, which will make it easier to write patches in the future. This work is helpful but is not very visible to the end user. For patches visible to the end user, volunteers such asNovem Linguae andMPGuy2824 have been writing patches for bug reports and feature requests. The Growth Team alsohad a video conference with the NPP coordinators to discussrevamping the landing pages that new users see.

Hello Devonian Wombat,
Backlog
Redirect drive: In response to an unusually high redirect backlog, we held a redirect backlog drive in May. The drive completed with23851 reviews done in total, bringing the redirect backlog to0 (momentarily). Congratulations toHey man im josh who led with a staggering 4316 points, followed byMeena andGreyzxq with 2868 and 2546 points respectively. Seethis page for more details. The redirect queue is steadily rising again and is steadily approaching 4,000. Please continue to help out, even if it's only for a few or even one review a day.
Redirect autopatrol: All administrators without autopatrol have now been added to the redirect autopatrol list. If you see any users who consistently create significant amounts of good quality redirects, consider requesting redirect autopatrol for themhere.
WMF work on PageTriage: TheWMF Moderator Tools team, consisting ofSam,Jason andSusana, and also some patches fromJon, has been hard at workupdating PageTriage. They are focusing their efforts on modernising the extension's code rather than on bug fixes or new features, though some user-facing work will be prioritised. This will help make sure that this extension is not deprecated, and is easier to work on in the future. In the next month or so, we will have an opt-inbeta test where new page patrollers can help test the rewrite ofSpecial:NewPagesFeed, to help find bugs. We will post more details atWT:NPPR when we are ready for beta testers.
Articles for Creation (AFC): All new page reviewers are nowautomatically approved for Articles for Creation draft reviewing (you do not need to apply atWT:AFCP like was required previously). To install theAFC helper script, visitSpecial:Preferences, visit the Gadgets tab, tick "Yet Another AFC Helper Script", then click "Save". To find drafts to review, visitSpecial:NewPagesFeed, and at the top left, tick "Articles for Creation". To review a draft, visit a submitted draft, click on the "More" menu, then click "Review (AFCH)". You can also comment on and submit drafts that are unsubmitted using the script.
You can review the AFC workflow atWP:AFCR. It is up to you if you also want to mark your AFC accepts as NPP reviewed (this is allowed but optional, depends if you would like a second set of eyes on your accept). Don't forget thatdraftspace is optional, so moves of drafts to mainspace (even if they are not ready) should not be reverted, except possibly if there is conflict of interest.
Pro tip: Did you know that visual artists such as painters have their ownSNG? The most common part of this "creative professionals" criteria that applies to artists isWP:ARTIST 4b (solo exhibition, not group exhibition, at a major museum) or 4d (being represented within the permanent collections of two museums).

I am interested to know why theVictor Sarkis draft article is continually rejected.
There have not been many players from Brazil on the tour, and Sarkis is currently the only one.
He played recently in the2023 Championship League and made a century break in the single frame he won againstThepchaiya Un-Nooh.
There are players, who have articles, whose "notability" is, in my opinion, less than or equal to Sarkis. Here are a few:

Hello Devonian Wombat,
Backlog update:At the time of this message, there are11,300 articles and15,600 redirects awaiting review. This is the highest backlog in a long time. Please help out by doing additional reviews!
October backlog elimination drive:A one-month backlog drive for October will start in one week! Barnstars will be awarded based on the number of articles and redirects patrolled. Articles will earn 4x as many points compared to redirects. You cansign up here.
PageTriage code upgrades:Upgrades to thePageTriage code, initiated by theNPP open letter in 2022 and actioned by theWMF Moderator Tools Team in 2023, are ongoing. More information can be foundhere. As part of this work, theSpecial:NewPagesFeed now has a new version in beta! The update leaves the NewPagesFeed appearance and function mostly identical to the old one, but updates the underlying code, making it easier to maintain and helping make sure the extension is not decommissioned due to maintenance issues in the future. You can try out the new Special:NewPagesFeedhere - it will replace the current version soon.
Notability tip:Professors can meetWP:PROF #1 by having their academic papers be widely cited by their peers. When reviewing professor articles, it is a good idea to find theirGoogle Scholar orScopus profile and take a look at theirh-index and number of citations. As avery rough rule of thumb, for most fields, articles on people with a h-index oftwenty or more, a first-authored paper with more than a thousand citations, or multiple papers each with more than a hundred citations are likely to be kept at AfD.
Reviewing tip:If you would like like a second opinion on your reviews or simply want another new page reviewer by your side when patrolling, we recommend pair reviewing! This is where two reviewers useDiscord voice chat and screen sharing to communicate with each other while reviewing the same article simultaneously. This is a great way to learn and transfer knowledge.

Thanks for reviewing the recent updates to the article for Paul Richardson (businessman).
I understand the latest rejection is because the 'Subject looks to potentially be notable, but the draft currently contains far too much promotional content to accept.'
I appreciate it's possibly asking for too much help but which promotional content are you referring to please?
I'd rather get a steer on this from you than spend more time on editing the article and it being referred to again.

Hello. I have a request if it's OK about reviewing a page. I submittedDraft:BubbleUPnP twice, and on both times a specific reviewer declined it. Now normally I would understand the reasons why (and I have come across it before and made changes to improve drafts), but in this special case I feel like that reviewer has been a bit too harsh. The article is certainly not poor, and while that reviewer complained about refs I have definitely added a good number of secondary sources.
So that's why I would like to hear another reviewer's opinion on the matter, in case the other reviewer really is taking it a bit harshly by average standards. I would appreciate if you can take a look at the draft and determine if it is enough to pass or if you agree that it's not in a good state. Thanks!Chifonr (talk)16:13, 24 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I have noticed that in the afternoon before an election, even though this information had already been up for 12 days prior and you are quite an active and experienced contributor to Australian electoral articles, you saw fit to delete a significant amount of information about the Candidates' background.
Your explanation was "Removed original research and simplified bios".
For example, one candidate had their background reduced to just "Student", which is quite inadequate compared to the others and what their actual credentials are.
Candidate background info is something that I had put in a significant amount of effort into updating to ensure that all candidates had a fair amount of sourced background information as is tradition for by-elections on Wikipedia. As all the information was sourced, it was not "original research", and "Simplified" is quite the understatement.
Given the popularity of Wikipedia as a source of information before a by-election, I consider what you have done to make such edits so close to the day of the by-election as being deliberately timed and a form of election fraud.
Could you please explain your actions and why I should not be reporting what you have done to the Wikipedia Administrators?Kleinerziegler (talk)21:33, 18 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I saw that you declined to accept the articleDraft: Katy Krassner a few months back. In your comment you noted that "most of the references were either about Simon LeBon or Duran Duran more broadly." Indeed, a number of the sources do reference Duran Duran, I would respectfully like to point out that the subject of this article has worked with that band for a long time. It would only seem natural that citations make mention of this person in relation to their association with the band. Many other entertainment executives with articles on Wikipedia are mentioned in reference to their high-profile clients. Further, there are multiple references about this individual, including reference 5 fromBillboard I just made a number of small edits and hope you will take another look at the article and reconsider your decision to decline. Hi Devonian Wombat,
The draft composed for On2Cook has citations such as The Times of India and The Tribune, all of which are independent sources. The primary topic these articles is On2Cook as well. The promotional content is removed and the article has been updated accordingly. I believe the page meets wikipedia's criteria for inclusion as an encyclopedic entry.Thank you.

Response to Comment: "This submission appears to read more like an advertisement than an entry in an encyclopedia. Encyclopedia articles need to be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources, not just to materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed." This draft is for wiki-linking toList of computer simulation software. The description of Sim4Life does not sound more "promotional" than other entries in that list. I have been editing to remove descriptive words that might be perceived as promotional, but sometimes such words are needed to give an adequate description. The first 2 citations are links to the project pages of the Swiss government agency that funded the original research to develop the platform. Reference 13 is to the NIH SPARC online platform that has been developing in tandem with Sim4Life for about the last 8 years. These 3 references, listed above as the WP:THREE best sources, are truly independent. Most of the other citations in this draft are to independent research papers where the lead writers/researchers are not employed by ZMT Zurich MedTech. In only one case, Reference 12, a few of the co-authors are employees of ZMT Zurich MedTech, included as is common practice in scientific collaborations. Please check some of the other entries in theList of computer simulation software and reconsider acceptance.PLBounds (talk)13:54, 28 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Devonian Wombat,
Backlog update: The October drive reduced the article backlog from 11,626 to 7,609 and the redirect backlog from 16,985 to 6,431! Congratulations toSchminnte, who led with over 2,300 points.
Following that, New Page Patrol organized another backlog drive for articles in January 2024. The January drive started with 13,650 articles and reduced the backlog to 7,430 articles. Congratulations toJTtheOG, who achieved first place with 1,340 points in this drive.
Looking at the graph, it seems like backlog drives are one of the only things keeping the backlog under control. Another backlog drive is being planned for May. Feel free to participate in theMay backlog drive planning discussion.
It's worth noting that both queues are gradually increasing again and are nearing 14,034 articles and 22,540 redirects. We encourage you to keep contributing, even if it's just a single patrol per day. Your support is greatly appreciated!

WMF work on PageTriage: TheWMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developersdeployed the rewritten NewPagesFeed in October, and thengave the NewPagesFeed a slight visual facelift in November. This concludes most major work toSpecial:NewPagesFeed, and most major work by the WMF Moderator Tools team, whowrapped up their major work on PageTriage in October. The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers will continue small work on PageTriage as time permits.
Recruitment: A couple of the coordinators have been inviting editors to become reviewers, via mass-messages to their talk pages. If you know someone who you'd think would make a good reviewer, then a personal invitation to them would be great. Additionally, if there are Wikiprojects that you are active on, then you can add a post there asking participants to join NPP. Please be careful not to double invite folks that have already been invited.
Reviewing tip: Reviewers who prefer to patrol new pages within their most familiar subjects can use the regularly updatedNPP Browser tool.

Thank you for reviewingDraft:Rachel Cowan so quickly. If I remove the offending sentence "People who worked with her described her as a prophet, teacher, healer, and visionary who empowered individuals to effect change." would that satisfy your objection? Note that sentence was sourced and summarizes what others said. But I'm fine to remove it. What about the final sentence under section "Personal life and passing": "She passed away on August 31, 2018leaving behind a legacy of compassionate leadership and spiritual innovation, inspiring others to carry on her work." Does that run afoul of NPOV?Nnev66 (talk)14:55, 14 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Checking back in to see if you have any other concerns aboutDraft:Rachel Cowan. I believe I've addressed NPOV issues. The article reads to me in formal tone so I'm not sure if the box on the page is standard verbiage or you felt there was an issue there. Would be good to have your concerns addressed before I re-submit. If I should be doing something different than I am in responding to your comments also please let me know as this is my first time going through this process.Nnev66 (talk)21:13, 17 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, Hi and Hello Devonian Wombat. I have written a BLP. It's quite detailed. Anyways my request is that can you submit my draft for publication on wikipedia? If you can do that I would be extremely thankful to you.

Thanks for reviewing my draft which you recently declined. I cannot fathom why Quadrio is not considered notable when she has recieved several prominent awards, most recently a Kings honour. She is an expert in sexual abuse in Australia, poviding expert testimonies and called upon by the media for her expert opinions. Plus other reasons cited in the article. I have looked carefully at WP:PROF and the criteria there. I have not been able to find citations for all of her posts, some I have had to remove, records from the 70's are hard to obtain. Would you be so kind as to tag the places I need to cite? I have gone through the article more carefully and removed any language that might be considered peacock, but seriously I don't think this is accurate. I also think I have remained neutral, I have used quotes to represent the person, who is an outspoken advocate on womens rights and sexual abuse. I feel these quotes are suited to describing Quadrios work rather than anything I feel or think about her. Yes, as the author I have made a decision to include these quotes but that is based on the fact that this is who the person is, this is their career. I am just bewildered, and a tad frustrated, as to why I cannot get this article out of draft stage or what to do about it. ThanksBcritical (talk)02:35, 15 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I just replied on my talk page to your comment on my Jack Mallers Draft. Would it be (more) appropriate if I would post it here? Please help me what kind of comments to place where. Thanks in advance to making me understand. And thanks for your review of my draft article too.
Let me copy paste what I wrote here too:
We have just seen an American president win, by largely ignoring main stream media and going big on social media and podcasts. Jack Mallers is all over the place on YouTube and on podcasts in dozens of long form interviews with all kinds of outlets. He is without any doubt one of the 10 leading voices on Bitcoin and America is supposed to become the Bitcoin & crypto capital of the world in the next years. Bitcoin has reached 100K just as Mallers predicted last fall. He is definitely one of the pioneers who gave El Salvador the privilege of becoming the first country on the planet with Bitcoin als legal tender. Nobody doubts that .... and yes in many main stream articles he is only cursory mentioned ... yet the doesn't make his historic contribution any smaller. Imagine history recounts with cursory mention the guy who made the knife with which Julius Caesar was killed. This guy might still warrant a Wikipedia article if we knew he was a leading voice on Roman knife making. I see that it is beyond my power to help open up YouTube to the podcasting world (which would certainly mee merited) so I understand I have to move within the rules set-up by the platform. In this case what I can do is finding references like this one:https://www.nasdaq.com/articles/jack-mallers-new-video-about-bitcoin-scarcity-right-money That's a reputable source with some written paragraphs about an interview with Mallers. To me it is almost ridiculous or even vandalism by editors when a person mentioned by New York Times, Washington Post, Forbes etc etc etc would not be adequately sourced. But I respect your view as a Wikipedia insider to learn from you and find my way around. So tell me: is the Nasdaq link what you are looking for? I'm sure I can find more. In the end you will have to admit that Mallers merits an article. Please help too keep Wikipedia timely and updated and don't "censor" pages that clearly need to be there. Actually I am surprised that Wikipedia fails here as a collaborative project since, why is nobody stepping in and helping me expand and polish the article? I hope you will!Hajosmit (talk)11:26, 27 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hey @Devonian Wombat, are you sure that that book passesWP:NBOOK? Only sources mention in the book also include the authors comments, so they are not passingWP:BOOKCRIT right?~/Bunnypranav:<ping>06:11, 13 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, @Devonian Wombat, as requested on the pageDraft:Jonathan Frantz, I removed the bullet points and redid that section, keeping the encyclopedic tone. All citations have been adjusted accordingly as well. Thank you for your suggestions. If there's nothing else to change, could you please approve? Again, thank you for the help!Editora89119 (talk)14:24, 20 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Your reasons for rejection were that its "sourced exclusively to the NASA website and a random SpaceX fan page", and then claimed that "neither of which are reliable secondary sources". You also labeled them as "vast amounts of primary sources", which is also incorrect.
NASASpaceflight is a WP:RS. Don't take my word for it, check theTalk:SpaceX Starship page, which states "NASASpaceFlight.com, generally reliable" and the relatedFAQ "The few that are reliable areNASASpaceFlight.com and big news outlets in this case." Even if NASASpaceflight was associated with NASA (which it isn't), it would remain a secondary source, not a primary.
Then there's ArsTechnica, which is certainly not a "SpaceX fan page".
Next Big Future... I didn't add that, and have no idea why it was added at all. I've since replaced it with an actual source: the FCC. I'm fairly confident that the FCC is a reliable source.
Already, this is enough to pass the requirements for notability. And there are still two more (independant) sources.
The first source is "Mobile Internet Research Center". I'm not sure how reliable the source is, but it both coroborates the next source and doesn't seem to have any errors.
The second source is arguably a fan site, but is generally quite reliable: the RingWatchers. The only part of the article that is cited by them is the claim of 54 Starlinks being the max payload of F9.
The consensus to delete the article was regarding a version with substantially less information and sources. Due to the expansion, many of the arguments for deletion during that discussion are no longer applicable. But if this was your sole grounds for rejection, it'd at least make some sense. But with the above in mind, your reason for rejection is rather confusing.Redacted II (talk)03:28, 21 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! Kindly indicate which exact sentences in the article seem like advertisement.
Every statement in the article, like "His teaching emphasizes morality, integrity, and the historical context that gave rise to Krav Maga." or " . . . also pursues civic advocacy" is accompanied by a citation and/or further specific and factual details like, "emphasizing relationship development between police forces and community members, as well as non-lethal self-defense tactics training for police officers."
Thank you.

Dear Devonian Wombat: Before I edit my rejected draft of the Draper Shreeve bio, I have a couple of questions. I assume I should just remove any information or quotes I cannot support with footnotes that can be verified online. Is that correct? I have access to a couple of newspaper clips but don't know how to make them accessible for the Wikipedia editors.
Thanks for your help.

Hi Devonian Wombat,
Can you help me?
User "Lekkha Moun" left a comment on my draft article stating the following:
Comment: Doesn't meet WP:SPORTCRIT. Subject is often not mentioned in sources, but rather Krav Mags as a whole. Lekkha Moun(talk) 09:59, 2 May 2025 (UTC)
This comment is entirely not factual. Every reference provided in the article mentions David Kahn by name.
I would like Wikipedia management to remove the comment. What can be done?
Thank you.Phenomenon 10 (talk)14:14, 15 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
