Tushar Chaudhary (born 18 December 1965) is an Indian politician and a leader of theIndian National Congress inGujarat. He was elected toGujarat Legislative Assembly in 2002 and 2022, and toLok Sabha in 2004 and 2009.

Early life

Chaudhary was born on 18 December 1965 in Bedkuvta Valod village inSurat district of Gujarat.[1] He is a son ofAmarsinh Chaudhary, a politician and former chief minister of Gujarat.[2][3] He has studied MBBS fromMaharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda.[1]

Career

He was elected fromVyara in2002 Gujarat legislative assembly election.[1] In 2004, he was elected to14th Lok Sabha fromMandvi constituency.[4] In 2009, he was elected to the15th Lok Sabha fromBardoli constituency.[5] He was the Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs from 28 May 2009 to 28 September 2012.[6] On 28 September 2012 he became the Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways.

He contested2014 and2019 Indian general elections from Bardoli but lost both times.[2][7] In2017 Gujarat legislative assembly election, he lost fromMahuva constituency.[7][8] In2022 Gujarat legislative assembly election, he contested and was elected fromKhedbrahma constituency defeating his nearest rivalBharatiya Janata Party candidateAshvin Kotwal.[9][10][11]

Personal life

In 1991, Chaudhary married Dipti Chaudhary. They have a daughter and a son.[1]
