TheTunguska Basin is asedimentary basin, inSiberia.

Geography

Much of theSiberian Traps Large Igneous Province is inside.[1]

The area is of about 400,000 square miles (1,000,000 km2) inKrasnoyarsk Territory andSakha Republic, between theYenisei andLena rivers. It contains a huge untappedcoal reserve. Its main settlements there areNorilsk,Igarka, andYeniseisk. The Tunguska rivers cross the basin. On June 30, 1908, near theStony Tunguska River theTunguska Event took place.[2]

Geology

Boreholes in the Tunguska Basin indicate ubiquitous and abundantsills, which have great lateral extension.[3]

The Tunguska Basin makes up much of theSiberian Craton and has several subbasins.[4]
