TheThomas Buchanan Read School is an historic, Americanschool building that is located in theElmwood Park neighborhood ofPhiladelphia, Pennsylvania.
It was added to theNational Register of Historic Places in 1986.[1]
Designed byHenry deCoursey Richards and built between 1906 and 1908, this historic structure is a two-story, twenty-bay, red brick building withlimestone trim. Created in theGeorgian Revival style, it features a large projecting section, recessed entrance bays, brick piers with stone capitals, and a hipped roof with coppercupola.[2] It was named in honor of the poet and painterThomas Buchanan Read.[3]
Added to theNational Register of Historic Places in 1986,[1] it was home to theMotivation High School before the latter moved to its current location on Baltimore Avenue in 2013.[4]
