The Tsar's Bride (Russian:Царская невеста,romanized: Tsarskaja nevesta) is an historicalversedrama in fouracts byLev Mei from1849.[1] Fifty years laterNikolai Rimsky-Korsakov used the play as the basis for hisopera of the same name.[1] As with Mei's otherRussian historical drama,The Maid of Pskov (1859), this play is set in the time ofIvan the Terrible.
