The Times–Gazette is a dailynewspaper published weekdays and Saturdays inHillsboro, Ohio. It is owned byAIM Media Midwest, a subsidiary ofAIM Media Management.
Published as a daily since October 1, 1973 (when it was called theHillsboro Press Gazette),[2]The Times-Gazette traces its history back to a long succession ofweekly newspapers covering Hillsboro andHighland County, Ohio, starting with theHillsborough Gazette, and Highland Advertiser, in 1818.[1] In February 1928 thePress Gazette began circulation whenThe Hillsboro Gazette andThe People's Press merged. On March 12, 1996 thePress Gazette,Greenfield Daily Times,Lynchburg News andLeesburg Citizen merged to form theTimes-Gazette although the first newspaper with aTimes-Gazette headline wasn't until November 4, 1996.
More recently, the newspaper was owned byBrown Publishing Company ofCincinnati before that company went bankrupt and was reconstituted asOhio Community Media in 2010.[3] The company, including theTimes-Gazette, was purchased for an undisclosed sum in 2011 byPhiladelphia-based Versa Capital Management.[4]
In 2012 Versa merged Ohio Community Media, formerFreedom papers it had acquired,Impressions Media, andHeartland Publications into a new company,Civitas Media.[5] Civitas Media sold its Ohio papers to AIM Media Midwest in 2017.[6]
