This template should be placed on drafts by editors other than the original draft creator to indicate that the draft has promise and is worthy of more significant review and discussion prior to deletion in order to avoid losing valuable encyclopedia content. This includes drafts whose title is the target of a significant number ofred links already in main article space.

Arequest for comment in June 2018 closed with a consensus that the{{promising draft}} template "cannot be used to indefinitely prevent aWP:G13 speedy deletion nomination".
