Telemaco, ossia L'isola di Circe (Telemachus, or Circe's Island) is anoperaticdramma per musica in two acts byChristoph Willibald Gluck. The Italianlibretto was written byMarco Coltellini afterCarlo Sigismondo Capece's libretto forScarlatti's 1718 operaTelemaco.

The opera was written for the wedding of the Emperor (to be)Joseph II and PrincessMaria Josepha of Bavaria.

Performance history

The first performance was at theBurgtheater in Vienna on 30 January 1765.
