Tawqi‘ (Arabic:التوقيع,romanizedal-tawqī‘) is acalligraphic variety of theArabic script. It is a modified and smaller version of thethuluth script. Both scripts were developed byIbn Muqlah.[1] Thetawqi‘ script was further refined byIbn al-Bawwab.[2]

It was mostly employed in official state papers and documents in theOttoman Empire, where the script was known astevki.
