Talsarnau (Welsh pronunciationⓘ) is a village andcommunity in theArdudwy area ofGwynedd in Wales. Its population was 525 in 2001,[1] and had increased to 550 at the 2011 Census.[2]
The village of Talsarnau is situated on theA496 coastal road betweenMaentwrog andHarlech, close to the hamlets ofEisingrug andLlandecwyn. It has one primary school and onepub, "The Ship Aground", which starts serving food from 18:00 (6pm).
Talsarnau railway station on theCambrian Line serves the village. The community also includesYnys Gifftan andSoar, Gwynedd.
To the south of the village, on the Harlech road, stands the Glyn Cywarchestate, a historic home of theWynn family. The present house was built c.1616 by William and Katherine Wynn. It is aGrade II* listed building,[3] and its gardens are designated, also at Grade II*, on theCadw/ICOMOS Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in Wales.[4]
