This is a joke. The awards won were won almost exclusively when Jeff McCourt was owner (he also won a Peter Lisagor Award) and publisher. This thin PR snip wants to make it appear as if the real owners/founders never existed or did anything.The founder/owner/publisher/writer who is acknowledged as having created a great newspaper via hiring excellent writers, editors and staff and who ran WCT from its founding in 1986 until, due to serious illness, he had to stop in 1999 was Jeff McCourt. His determination to create a real newspaper with high journalistic standards helped reshape the whole GL media. He was one of the first GL publishers to win so-called mainstream adverts.
