– Seems to be the clearprimary topic in terms of page views (has almost more than 100 times the page views of all pages onWin Myint [the disambiguation page] combined), and will probably have lasting significance due to being the head/leader of a country.Steel1943 (talk)09:47, 30 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Note:Win Myint (politician, born 1951) was formerly atWin Myint (politician), andWin Myint (politician, born 1954) was formerly atWin Myint (minister). My page view checks were based on the previous titles since they haven't been at their current titles for enough time yet to show up on page view reports.Steel1943 (talk)09:51, 30 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

He was re-elected as the President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar on Feb 5, 2021 by the Committee Representing Pyithu Hluttaw. Therefore, he is currently the official President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.NCLMKK (talk)02:42, 15 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: He is currently under arrest following the coup, and is thus no longer in office. It doesn't matter if that is unfair or illegal. Wikipedia is not here toWP:RIGHTGREATWRONGS. ― Tartan357 Talk03:11, 15 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,

Our predisent is still U Win Myint. So, he isNOT former PRESIDENT. Please review first before you write or mend. You know this kind of politics thing is really sensitive case for us. We are really trying to fight forDEMOCRACY. Please take care of the choice of words. I wish we can use Wikipedia as the valuable resourse. Thank you!103.231.92.168 (talk)12:37, 17 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: please providereliable sources that support the change you want to be made.𝟙𝟤𝟯𝟺𝐪𝑤𝒆𝓇𝟷𝟮𝟥𝟜𝓺𝔴𝕖𝖗𝟰 (𝗍𝗮𝘭𝙠)13:20, 17 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I am sorry that there was a coup in your country, but that is the reality. Wikipedia represents things as they are,not as we want them to be. The fact is that Win Myint is no longer in office; it doesn't matter if that is unfair, illegal, etc. It's just a fact. ― Tartan357 Talk16:14, 17 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Win Myint is still a President according tothis United Nations Source1. Don't second-guess. Please use reliable source. For any wikipedia editor, we can only use published materials from reliable sources.Dhawell.hlugalay (talk)02:06, 21 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Dhawell.hlugalay, I'm not sure what you think I'm "second-guessing". There is an abundance of reliable sources covering the coup:[1],[2],[3],[4],[5],[6]. ― Tartan357 Talk02:18, 21 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
[User:Tartan357]All your sources have mentioned coup but they still mentioned "Win Myint" as a President. What I mean by "second-guess" is that you are making a conclusion that a coup mentioned in the references as equivalent to "Win Myint no longer a President". Then, you have made your own conclusion (i.e. a primary source) which is in total disregard of wikipedia Wikipedia:RSPRIMARY rule. I will give you one specific example. For example, if certain insurgents had a control over The White House and detained the President of The United States (POTUS), then could you say he was no longer the President. Definitely not, he is still a POTUS by the US Constitution and his presidency can be taken away only by means of the US Constitution.Dhawell.hlugalay (talk)02:25, 21 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Dhawell.hlugalay, no, the sources I've provided are not primary sources and they do say that the military has taken over the government, which is an indisputable fact. And yes, if the president of the United States were to be forcibly removed from office, I would acknowledge that fact. Please readWP:RIGHTINGGREATWRONGS. It doesn't matter if it's unfair, illegal, etc. It's a fact. ― Tartan357 Talk02:30, 21 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Win Myint is still the elected president of Myanmar. He is officially listed as elected president of Myanmar in UN website with the date of 19-Feb-2012. Refer page 40 of this PDF (https://protocol.un.org/dgacm/pls/site.nsf/files/HSPMFM/$FILE/Hspmfm.pdf). The date is at the bottom of the page and the names are at the top.Lukaar (talk)08:08, 24 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Photo

[edit]

@Roman Kubanskiy: I'm fine with changing the photo, but not to one that has been heavily modified like this. We can't "make" an official photo. Either it's official, or it isn't. Creating one with a false background to try to mimic an official photo is a bit misleading. ― Tartan357 Talk18:09, 28 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Tartan357 I suggest that we come to a consensus for choosing an illustration of an article about Win Myint (as it was, for example, with Vladimir Putin). In addition to these two, we should select several photos, and choose the most suitable one.Roman Kubanskiy (talk)08:54, 30 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Roman Kubanskiy, how about we use the photo that you chose, but without modifying it? ― Tartan357 Talk14:30, 30 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
In principle, I probably wouldn't mind if it wasn't so red. But in general, I suggest to post here a few photos here and attract other participants.Roman Kubanskiy (talk)14:57, 30 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Lead photo

We need to come to a consensus on the main image of the article, as we have disagreed on this one. Which image should be used in the lead?
