[edit]
While this tournament may be previously or unofficially known under a different name, Medibank Private is the naming rights sponsor, and as such the tournament is now known as the Medibank International. This article should reflect the fact that this is the accepted name of the tournament, so no change is necessary.--Phil500(Talk /Contribs)04:52, 6 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The Australian Open is so-named because that's what the tournament officials, in conjunction with corporate sponsors, decide to calll it. Check out the tournament's official website here[1]. There is no reference to the tournament being titled the "NSW Open" - all media coverage, press releases etc. refer to the tournament as the Medibank International. The official site itself uses the title "Medibank International." There is no need to change this article's title because that is the name that the tournament gives itself. Changing the article's title will not reflect the true name of the tournament.--Phil500(Talk /Contribs)23:27, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I wasn't aware of the winners board - thanks for bringing it to my attention. Including both names sounds like a good compromise, I'm happy to go with that. Perhaps the pageNSW Open should also be created, redirecting to this article for people who are unaware of the "Medibank International" part.--Phil500(Talk /Contribs)02:43, 9 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Medibank International logo.jpg

[edit]

Image:Medibank International logo.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used underfair use but there is noexplanation or rationale as to why its use inthis Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to theboilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent withfair use.

Please go tothe image description page and edit it to include afair use rationale. Using one of the templates atWikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described oncriteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at theMedia copyright questions page. Thank you.

Request for wider input on discussion at WikiProject Tennis

[edit]

There is along, ongoing discussion atWP:Tennis about the tournament tables found in tennis articles on English-language Wikipedia (e.g.,this type of table). The discussion is about whether the "official sponsored name" of a tournament - such asPacific Life Open - or another tournament name without the sponsor - such asIndian Wells Masters - must be used in those articles. Please join the discussionhere. Thanks.Tennis expert (talk)08:42, 4 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
