"Twenty years later, Simon presents the daily Drivetime show on BBC Radio 2 - and the confessions segment is back. Now those guilty listeners who missed their chance first time around have joined with a whole new generation of sinners in begging for clemency from Father Mayo. Their confessions are as hilarious as ever."
really? please.

This article seems a bit too sycophantic??? I'm sure it's generally accurate though. Thoughts?—Precedingunsigned comment added byTreasurebum (talk •contribs) 14:23, 9 September 2005
Indeed with "one of the most recognised and respected voices of radio in the UK" is a bit much. I know plenty of people who think he is an annoying and patronising git!Steve02:22, 16 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
A bit sycophantic? Come on - this is clearly written by his PR people. If he's so well loved and successful how come the entire article's been written by the same person and this is only the second comment made on it. This page really needs changing but I fear no one will care enough to do it - I'm not going to!—Precedingunsigned comment added byDanbt79 (talk •contribs) 07:45, 24 March 2006
Yeah, it's PR puff. Being a Christian, Mayo should get his PR to edit this. After all, vanity is a sin in the eyes of G_d.—Precedingunsigned comment added by84.92.8.113 (talk •contribs) 12:40, 6 April 2006
An 'academic' degree from Warwick Uni? What other kinds of degrees are there? hecould have been given an honoury degree.—Precedingunsigned comment added by84.92.8.113 (talk •contribs) 12:40, 6 April 2006
You're all very brave, not putting your names on your comments (apart from Steve!). As it turned out, I wrote it. I'm not his PR and my wikipedia record suggests I can gauge what is right and not right for an article. If you think it's sycophantic that's your prerogative; I'm not sure it is. And I've never met or spoken to Simon Mayo.Bentley Banana16:45, 30 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not from England and don't know him, except from the BBC streamings of the daily Mayo show, and I also don't know if the facts presented here are correct, but "annoying and patronising" Are you fucking nuts? Every single time I've listend to him, he is trying his damdest to be impartial and objective- Even if I think the guest is a total lunatic, Mayo treats him with respect and doesn't let his own bias shine through. And here is a hint for you, usually when people feel others are patronising towards them, is because they are insecure.IceHunter02:53, 12 November 2006 (UTC) (and can we please get another letter than ~ for signature)[reply]
I have a copy of the oldOn This Day in History book, where in the introduction he mentions the history lessons he used to sit through when he was atWorthing High School, but this article makes no mention of him ever having lived or been educated in Worthing?Angmering09:10, 30 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I heard him for the first time this week and its clear he is one of those people who is a "christian" before everyting else. That self-righteous tone does come through on his shows and is kind of irritating. We are supposed to be a secular country and i've yet to see or hear Atheism biased broadcasting from the BBC because presumably that would offend those who believe. A good part of radio 2 and 4 output seems to be pro Christian and now radio 5 ? The logic that its OK to run down Harry Potter but not God when neither exist is hardly conducive to an intelligent free thinking secular society ?mikecsmith 03:05, 10 Sep 2008 (UTC)

The Early Life and Personal Life sections of this article contain duplication of the subject's educational info. They should probably be combined and de-dupedPointOfPresence (talk)16:14, 22 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
