Copvio?

[edit]

It looks like some of the entry came from Ross Noble's website, in particular the biography section:[1]. Some stuff looks fine, but some seems to be a barely edited copy, for example, the paragraph starting in the past 12 years.Silverfish 23:34, 16 Apr 2004 (UTC)

I think this has been fixed since. --jeffthejiff09:50, 17 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Trivia

[edit]

Icommented out removed a section that seemed to be going on a bit of a tangent, about placing food on the stage etc. This didnt occur at a London gig i went to in December, and probably not most others either. We havent got space to write in detail about everything that Ross has ever said or done at a gig, so maybe we can outline each of his tours and the sort of stuff he talked about, rather than just one or two particular events. --jeffthejiff12:50, 12 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Humorously

[edit]

What's humorous about Noble crashing right outside a hospital? -Richardcavell01:15, 24 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe 'ironic' would be more appropriate? Maybe not.M A Mason19:16, 24 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Can anyone find a reference for the crash?Anand13:59, 28 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I can't find any usable ones; the only references i can find are one or two blogs mentioning it. Ross will probably mention it on TV or DVD or something at a later date though. --jeffthejiff22:02, 28 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It was mentioned to the audience during the shows he did in Sydney.—Precedingunsigned comment added byAshley P (talkcontribs) 08:56, 17 June 2006
I guessed that hes probably said it in a show, but its not really a reliable "reference"; we need it written down or otherwise recorded by someone like Noble himself for it to be something we can refer to. --jeffthejiff09:40, 17 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
"Coincidental" rather than "ironic", I think, unless he had previously said something along the lines of "I have such bad luck, if I ever have a crash it'll be miles from a hospital"Tyrhinis13:07, 21 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cleanup

[edit]

Cleanup/NPOV refers to DVD section in the main. Nothing terrible, just sounds rather as though it may have come from his website or similar.—Precedingunsigned comment added by82.43.177.240 (talkcontribs) 00:26, 10 June 2006

It didnt come from his website, but it does look like it was written by some sort of crazy fellow. I'll do a quick cleanup. --jeffthejiff09:41, 17 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"Ross appeals to students" uh yyyeeeah i'm gonna go ahead and take that out for the moment...

It has been commented on that Ross does appeal to a student demographic. InRob Brydon's Annually Retentive Rob Brydon spoofed Ross Noble by putting doing a bad impression of him saying "I appeal to students".Richhandy00:34, 3 December 2006 (UTC)Richard Handy[reply]

I would like to add a reference for the Colin Murray radio show appearance, but don't know how. Could somebody do it for me? Here's the link:http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/colinmurray/inthecompanyof.shtml

Angus Deayton's lastHave I Got News For You appearance...

[edit]

Ross Noble wasn't on Angus Deayton's last HIGNFY appearance, the two guests were Dave Gorman and Ken Livingstone.—The precedingunsigned comment was added by81.157.63.213 (talk)13:00, 19 January 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Not true - Gorman and Livingstone appeared on the programme that aired immediately after Deayton was caught in the tabloids, which was not his last. Ross Noble definitely was on Deayton's last ever show. SeeList of Have I Got News For You episodes.DVD Smith23:35, 21 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Recurring topics deletion

[edit]

I just took this out. Firstly because none of them are (as far as I know) remotely encyclopedic. None of them had any particular significence or importance, they just happened to be things he'd talked about. Secondly, they weren't properly referenced. The fact that he mentioned them once (or twice) doesn't make them 'recurring topics'. If someone finds an interview where he talks about specific topics that he's interested in and which he feels is important to his act, then reinstate the section - otherwise I think it was fairly useless.

Hey, it wasn't me who added recurring topics at first, but Noble himself discusses some of his recurring themes in his DVD commentaries. They include the aged, monkeys, owls and tramps among others. Would DVD commentary (if I find out which DVD) be good enough a reference?—Precedingunsigned comment added byGedmundo (talkcontribs)16:37, 17 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ross Noble on Wikipedia

[edit]

Ross talks about Wikipedia on the commentary of the Newcastle show in Randomist. He talks about the article and him accepting gifts, as well as George Foreman urban myth. I was wondering if it should be given a mention.ISD07:54, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think if can craft a suitably written paragraph somewhere in the article it would be a worthwile addition to the article.Luke C20:00, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Good article review

[edit]

I have a number of comments and as a consequence I'm failing the review for the time being. Things to consider:

  • Is his middle name so important that it constitutes about 1/3 of the lead?
  • Avoid words like "didn't", "isn't" - use "did not" or "is not" instead.
  • SeeWP:MOS for headings, don't re-use the article subject's name in section headings (i.e. avoid Noble's clothing, Noble's style etc).
  • The lead says he's a cult figure but there's no further mention of that in the article, this isoriginal research unless a citation can be found, plus it needs expansion in the main body if you're mentioning it in passing in the lead.
  • WP:CITE for citations, e.g. their positioning within the article.
  • "Noble has commented on how his shows are similar to 24. The fact that Noble juggles many topics and unfinished stories throughout the show, due to Noble's random performance style, interruptions from hecklers or Noble has drifted off into another surreal conversation. Thus the audience pesters Noble to tell the ending of his unfinished stories, which are usually eventually concluded at the end of his shows. At the finale of a show in Norwich, one audience member quizzed him about something he had mentioned in a show the previous year. Noble successfully replied." - How many times is "Noble" mentioned here? And no references. And a three word sentence.
  • Is his clothing really notable? The paragraph in question doesn't assert anything unusual or notable.
  • "At the age of 11, it was realised that he suffers from dyslexia." Grammar?
  • Stand up career & TV and radio sections are a bunch of single sentence (or very short) paragraphs.
  • List of tours, why the small text leading into it?
  • No citation for any of the DVD sections.

Hopefully some of these comments will help in the future, and in getting the article toGA.The Rambling Man19:14, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've done all of these recommendations, so I'm going to try nominating it again.ISD10:12, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You still need to reference most of the TV & Radio part.--SidiLemine13:43, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I've added references to parts and removed unreferenced sections.ISD14:11, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Failing GAN

[edit]

Although some of the things from last time have been resolved, the article still has several problems. The lead section does not accurately summarize the rest of the article (as perWP:LEAD). Also, the entire article is written in an overall colloquial tone. Not quite GA class, yet.NSR77TC23:52, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Residency

[edit]

Article states that he resides in Melbourne. In an interview on Aust TV (ABC, Enough rope with Andrew Denton) he indicated that this is not quite true. I am unsure if he is talking about his residency status with regard to his Visa or the fact that he does not reside in Melb majority of the time.

Awards Ross has won!

In the lede, we have: 'Ross Markham Noble (Born 6 June 1976)'
while in the 'Early life' section, the article states: 'Noble was born around 1977',
Which is right?
