Don't know how else to put this: this article isterrible. Reads like some pap put out by a local chamber of commerce, with a few dollops of goo-goo-eyed fandom added for good measure. Needs to be cleaned up. By the way, I've lived in both Tucson and Flagstaff and know some of the musicians listed: in fact, I was surprised to see some of them described as being "produced" in Flagstaff, when it's unlikely that anyone beyond Williams or Grand Canyon has ever heard of them.

Also, though I agree with the sentiments expressed about Katie Lee's activism with regard to the GodDamning of the Colorado River (and boy, is that good old girl ever active!), that kind of editorializing really doesn't belong here (or there, I should say; itdoes belonghere).

Oh, and furthermore: why does Katie Lee link to Billy Joel? --66.52.186.15309:14, 22 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

MRxUGLY???

[edit]

OK, I give up; who the hell is MRxUGLY? And do they, or it, really belong in this list? --ILike2BeAnonymous19:22, 28 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Alright, I see the blue link now; I guess that means they really do exist, huh? --ILike2BeAnonymous00:49, 11 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I wouldn't be so sure. Seems that was speedy deleted[1]. -MrFizyx08:15, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

killing the list

[edit]

I think the article would be better off without the list of musicians. I'm replacing this with links to categories:see also:

Feel free to protest. -MrFizyx08:15, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

OK, now it would be good if someone went through the list inthis edit and made sure that these same people are also in the correct categories. -MrFizyx08:21, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

False

[edit]

It is not true that Hispanic music is a major influence. It barely exists outside of Hispanic circles.DGulliver (talk)04:28, 7 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Jerry Riopelle and Waylon Jennings

[edit]

I'm surprised that there is no mention of Jerry Riopelle or Waylon Jennings here. Jerry being a 'local star' that has lasted for close to if not more then 30 yearsPlaying to large crowds in Arizona. (New years concert for many years?)

and Waylon Jennings was in and out of Phoenix-Tempe as an artist then the owner of JD's in the Riverbed in Tempe.

I'm new to wikipedia so i'm not going to try to post just yetactually I joined so i could add this post specifically. it was just time to make a statement.Padraig Mathuna (talk)18:03, 21 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Glaring omissions from Tucson section

[edit]

Nothing about Calexico? Really? No mention of Los Changuitos Feos or Salvador Duran or Mariachi Luz de Luna? No Howe Gelb or Mostly Bears? Tucson's section isn't fanservice so much as hopelessly dated.

And don't even get me started on how Tucson's section has the tag about being supposedly written from a fan's point of view while the Phoenix section has such ridiculous statements as "Phoenix is a center for musical innovation". Comeon. --68.0.185.152 (talk)09:22, 1 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Fan POV issues fixed. If Arizona bands are missing, then add them. Add some references too while you're at it: this article is pretty starved of them.Dai Pritchard (talk)10:24, 28 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
