Request to move as the spelling of Midnapore is used by the official indian government website -http://districts.nic.in/disdetails.asp?sc=wb . Change can't be done automatically as Midnapore is a redirect here. -Master Of Ninja10:19, 24 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

If there are no objections, I'm moving this back to Midnapore. The title of the article looks incredibly unprofessional right now. Also the move was executed by a user whose only contribution was, in fact, this page move. I agree that they are both "equally popular names", but Midnapore is the official name and that is where it should be. —riana_dzastawreak havoc|damage report10:20, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I had added some information about the strategic importance of the town during the Bargee invasion of Bengal. As far as I know, the Vagrant's Home near College Math was originally a fort of the Bargees. May be somebody could insert a detailed and more accurate history of that time?Srays13:34, 8 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I have done a complete overhaul to conform with wikis Project India guidelines. I've added a lot of information. However information in a subheading on the GEOGRAPHY and CLIMATE would be highly appreciated.
