Translation

[edit]

There is an article about this city in the German version of Wikipedia, but the two dozen words I know in German are not enough to help me translate the article, and the references are all in German as well. I whipped up something as a start, but would appreciate any assistance in fleshing out this article. Most of the information (except for the sister city info, which is specific to the English version) is from a dodgy Google translation.Horologiumt-c06:53, 22 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

copy edit/reference attempt

[edit]

I came on this article on a list of articles that needed references. I am having a little trouble and will leave some notes here as I go. Consider me a complete idiot on the topic trying to be helpful without causing chaos.

"Aduana Clan in Asantemanso, who were from Esumegya": neither of those places has a page on the wikipedia, but references I am finding say that Asantemanso is in a grove near Esumegya so I am a little concerned about the translation (and my German is also very poor, although I hadn't looked, maybe I can decipher something there). I can't use the reference as it doesn't support the text of the article. I do see Aduana as one of the traditional clans here:http://www.justiceghana.com/index.php/en/2012-01-24-13-47-49/2934-akans-and-their-various-abusua. I am getting the impression that ghana may not have much internet presence. Still looking. By the way that page talks about the stool thing I put a what template on; this will need to be deciphered and worked into the text.

German page has no history section at all actually

this link has some asantemanso history but does not support the text currently here:https://books.google.com/books?id=8qvY8pxVxcwC&pg=PA522&lpg=PA522&dq=Asantemanso&source=bl&ots=nQN1V36sg1&sig=xeVMiSLdwgaYchBfapqWv55Q3P4&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjbn-rA3N_JAhVR9mMKHR7EBdAQ6AEIJzAC#v=onepage&q=Asantemanso&f=false

down under notable people I figured that if the man's father played in the band of another musician listed as from the town then it supports that he too is from the town. I had found the father's obituary. hi-life might be a good search term for someone trying to flesh out the page, also.Elinruby (talk)08:39, 16 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This scholarly work may be talking about that war in the history section: if so there is quite bit there:https://books.google.com/books?id=-CMm0zpLOykC&pg=PA477&lpg=PA477&dq=Ataara+Finam&source=bl&ots=Qi5i-FQCDQ&sig=yxmVTVT1HXo1oXAhWFq1uSzLQoo&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwimn_6l_9_JAhVC9WMKHekYAeEQ6AEILDAE#v=onepage&q=Ataara%20Finam&f=falseElinruby (talk)08:52, 16 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

phD these specifically on land use in Agogo -- apparently there are conflicts between nomadic herdsmen and farmers. Probably an excellent source, no time to weave it in just now, trying to build up what is there and there is no mention of any of this in the current article. Found it through a google hit on the festival name.http://ugspace.ug.edu.gh/bitstream/handle/123456789/7253/Ibrahim%20Baidoo_%20%20Farmer-Herder%20Conflicts%20A%20Case%20Study%20Of%20Fulani%20Herdsmen%20And%20Farmers%20in%20the%20Agogo%20Traditional%20Area%20of%20the%20Ashanti%20Region_2014.pdf?sequence=1Elinruby (talk)09:10, 16 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Asanteman -- seems to mean Ashanti but plase spell that out for me and every other utter ignoramus that is going to come through here.

I found some good hits on the musicians in notable people -- may want to see if those websites cover more than just music. Stopping for now. Well, I mat see if I can sling some catergories on this to get it some attentionElinruby (talk)10:04, 16 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Geography section suggestion

[edit]

Re:

"Agogo is located at 6.80004 (latitude in decimal degrees), -1.08193 (longitude in decimal degrees) at an elevation/altitude of 396 meters. The average elevation of Agogo in Asante Akim North Municipal is 396 meters." It seems, especially since the elevations are identical, that Agogo may ~ Asante Akim North Municipal, but although this wording is awkward, it can't really be fixed without clarifying this jurisdiction matter. Is Asante Akim North Municipal the name of the metropolitan area maybe? Leaving alone for now, except for this comment, but someone should take care of this. Possible wording: Agogo, at 6.80004 (latitude in decimal degrees), -1.08193 (longitude in decimal degrees), lies in Asante Akim North Municipal ______(specify county, riding, urban district or whatever it is) has an average elevation of 396m.
