Tadamasa Kodaira (小平 忠正,Kodaira Tadamasa, born March 18, 1942) is a formerJapanesepolitician of theDemocratic Party of Japan, who served as a member of theHouse of Representatives in theDiet (national legislature).

Early life

Kodaira is a native ofIwamizawa, Hokkaidō and graduated fromKeio University in Tokyo. Prior to going into politics, he ran a ranch.

Political career

Kodaira was elected to the House of Reoresentatives for the first time in 1990, and served until 2012. He represented the Hokkaido 4th constituency from 1990-1996, and the Hokkaido 10th from 1996-2012.

In the first cabinet reshuffle of Prime MinisterYoshihiko Noda on October 1, 2012, Kodaira was appointedChairman of the National Public Safety Commission,Minister of State for Consumer Affairs and Food Safety, taking over fromJin Matsubara.[1]
