St. Pankraz (German pronunciation:[saŋktˈpaŋkrats];Italian:San Pancrazio[sampaŋˈkrattsjo]) is acomune (municipality) inSouth Tyrol in northernItaly, located about 20 kilometres (12 mi) northwest of the city ofBolzano.

Geography

As of 30 November 2010, it had a population of 1,589 and an area of 63.1 square kilometres (24.4 sq mi).[3]

Sankt Pankraz borders the following municipalities:Lana,Laurein,Naturns,Unsere Liebe Frau im Walde-St. Felix,Tisens,Ulten, andCastelfondo.

The emblem represents a tower with battlements, with a pavilionazure roof, surrounded by a wall above avert hill with two fir-trees on each side onargent. The castle tower corresponds to theEschenloch Castle built in the twelfth century by the Counts ofUlten. The emblem was adopted in 1968.[4]
