Somnath Bharadwaj (born 28 October 1964) is an Indiantheoretical physicist who works onTheoretical Astrophysics andCosmology.
Bharadwaj was born in India, studied at theIndian Institute of Technology inKharagpur, and later received his PhD from theIndian Institute of Science. After having worked at theHarish-Chandra Research Institute, he is now aprofessor atIIT Kharagpur. He has made significant contributions to the dynamics oflarge-scale structure[1] formation.
In 2003, he was selected to be one of the professors fromIIT whose class room lectures would be broadcast in theEklavya Technology Channel.[2][3][4]
Bharadwaj was an invited speakers onGalaxy Formation at the prestigiousIndo-US Frontier of Science symposium which was organized by theU.S. National Academy of Sciences in 2005.[5][6]
He is currently in the editorial board of theJournal of Astrophysics & Astronomy published by theIndian Academy of Sciences.[7]
