Silas Peirce (February 15, 1793 – August 27, 1879) was an Americangrocer andpolitician who founded the wholesale grocer[4] Silas Peirce & Co, in Boston, Massachusetts.[2] in April, 1815.[5] The grocery firm of Silas Peirce & Co., Ltd. lasted 111 years.[4]
Peirce served as chairman and a member of theBoston Board of Aldermen.
From 1816 to 1822, Peirce served in the First Regiment, Third Brigade, Fourth Division of theMassachusetts Volunteer Militia.[2] In 1821 Peirce joined theAncient and Honorable Artillery Company of Massachusetts.[6]
